This feels like a spiritual sequel to Another Earth. Again, Brit Marling shows particular interest in juxtaposing the supernatural with the quotidian. The story feels like a melding of Another Earth, John Fowles' "The Magus," and a certain Kevin Spacey film that would spoil this show by mere invocation. The result has some solid character transformations and some intriguing metafiction and Jesus and Joan of Arc imagery... but it drags. Holy sweet Mary, mother of fuck, it DRAGS.

I didn't finish this one, so my criticism is unfair and unfounded, but I got a heavy sense of the Lost-esque mystery box going on here, and I didn't want to stick around to find out if that was accurate or not.

S1: Awful writing. I say that as a Brit Marling fan. Some of the most cringe-worthy dialogue I have seen in a TV series. Hipster trash. On the flipside there is some nice imagery and some okay writing. The performances are pretty good and the music is ok. I kind of liked the ending. Was it worth the 8 hours? Only if you are a Brit Marling fan or don't care if the plot is ridiculous. Most of the characters weren't very likeable. Badly executed. 60 S2: Much better than S1, far more interesting. 74

More on the side of "The Sound of My Voice" rather than "I Origins" and its metaphysical/creationist bullshit, so that's good at least. But the final act is so weak that I am not sure it needs a second season if the story will tie the same way after all. Maybe Marling and Batmanglij should try a different thing for once, plot-wise?

An ambiguous finale is not a bad thing, in my book, and this one, as usual with Marling and Batmanglij, revolves around the question of faith. It probably could have been more subtle, but I found the season as whole really engrossing. Review update after seeing season 2 : please don't stop !

Takes a long while to get going and christ fuck the ending is terrible, but everything to do with Jason Isaacs and the surrounding plot is intriguing (the end of one episode in particular is flat out amazing). Wish it was split off into its own tighter thing.

Rating this based on the first season alone, it was not terrible but a tad too kooky for me. The dancing was the main culprit.

This show is different. I'm sure the plot is similar in some ways to shows I haven't seen, but this show is executed differently from anything i've seen before. Would I sound pretentious if I called it avante garde? I can absolutely see how some people would find this show cringey or bizarre. But, as with some Lynchian whatthefuckery, it is most satisfying consumed without scrutiny. I can just feel where the creators minds were at with this show, and I really enjoyed it.

This show lays too many eggs, none of them hatches. My statement goes both for the overarching plot and character development. Brit Manling herself and individual scenes are engaging.

After 2 seasons I was sick of the spooky nonsense, asinine dances, and jarring plot curves. It became impossible to enjoy with so much intelligence-insulting garbage in each installment. Interesting but infuriating. Extra points for the Brit Marling performances, but not her writing. F#&K the writing, it is cockamamie idiocy designed to be confusing, shocking, and surreal. I waited for a reasonable conclusion but was disappointed by the pathetic finale that made it feel like a waste of time.

Bad writing goes to another dimension. The last three episodes of the 1st season are among the absolutely worst things ever filmed. Will never watch the 2nd season or anything else that has Marling or Batmanglij names on it.

marling olmasa izlenir miydi, emin değilim. yine filmlerindeki gibi ilgi çekici bir konsept yakalayıp biraz da sound of my voice üzerine, onun ötesini kurmaya çalışmışlar sanki fakat işlemiyor. o kadar çok an var ki dizide göz devirten, filmlerinde çoğunlukla final bölümlerine kadar çok iyi giden birçok şey dahi işlemiyor. izlenmesine izlenir, zevk verir ama meh bir iş.

I liked the life like story. There was nice, unexpected twists, though the story did not build interesting line (despite the good premises of the pilot). There was several plot holes.

S1-S2: Feels like a mix of Lost/The Man from Earth/Sense 8. Season 1 is more likely a 60 score because it seems it doesn't progress and it's not the best scripted part in my opinion, seems always repeating itself. Season 2 is more entertaining and engaging, better structure, completely improve over S1 formula. Even if cancelled I have to say the ending of S2 could be consider a quite decent finale for the series, open, but satisfactory enough.

The OA, 2. sezona geçtim ve övmelere nerden başlayacağımı bilemiyorum.

Some interesting ideas, but much of the acting is underwhelming. Season 2 really goes off the deep end without much forethought or coherence. Still worth a watch, as the overarching themes are legitimatelly fascinating to mull over. Philosophically and metaphysically, it improves upon Lost, but the directorial work is pretty poor and there's this awkward feeling that everything is set up to feed Marling's megalomania.

After watching the whole season three times, the flaws become more apparent, but still the best TV, if we can call it that, I've watched in a long time, bar the final 10 minutes of the season finale.

First season: 86 Season two: seemed so forced that I quit after a few episodes. So the rating's only for season 1. If only it stopped with "Angel take me with you!" and it would have been a 92, but those last 30 seconds shaved 6 points off. It's still great, go for it, Marling's beyond awesome.
