[thru season 2] [s01] As a study in character and related gender issues, it's pretty excellent. It's shot in such a way that landscape reveals much about character motivation. Unfortunately, the end is a mess, with a mish-mash of events that merely serve to terminate the series rather than to conclude it. [s02] Very different totally, but still quite interesting.

It really is good and everything, but I can't get rid of the feeling, that the last episode was something they just had to whip up as they were running out of time, like not enough thought was put into it (like GJ's last line, what's with that??). But generally I like how it evolved (and ended) - though it headed in a different direction than I expected after episode one.

S1: The broad outline of the plot had promise but the acting (except for Moss and Wright), dialogue, and just about everything else was cringeworthy. Christ this was bad.

Rating is for the first season, a more female-centric, less mystical Twin Peaks inspiration set in New Zealand. Moss & Mullan are fantastic but the ending is abrupt. Second season would get something around 30/40 and can be skipped, it loses almost all of the atmosphere when moved to Sydney. Worse is the overracting by Kidman/Christie/the daughter and the jarring tonal shifts between light comedy odd couple police work and the actual plot, which breaks suspension of disbelief at several points.

Shot so beautifully and with a pretty impressive cast, this series was a lot of fun but it always seemed to totter on the edge of something awesome. The ending wasn't the sort of intense revelation I was hoping for, but it was still well written and results in a captivating mystery.

Sometimes overly dramatic this is a pretty good slice of life mystery. Feels secluded and alien, an overall decent watch.

Some descent moments and acting...very reminiscent of "Twin Peaks" sometimes. A bit tedious at times. The main character wasn't ver believable

Good stuff. Some side roles should have got a bit more screen time. I've got feeling I was watching same scenes with main cast for most of the time and it was a bit dull.
