Years and Years should get the collective minds of society churning for a better result. If you watch this and you don't see the parallels to the the current state of the US then we are not doing enough. Fantastic acting, hauntingly tragic narrative in many ways as this was one cog in the shell of change designed by one family that had been through enough. This akin to Black Mirror in many ways was sharper and more focused on a driven narrative about the current state of fear within politics.

Novel sci-fi spin on the typical historical family saga starts exceptionally well, with an appropriately bleak and grim tone (an unsettling, unrelenting score sets the mood perfectly). At its best contrasting the horrors of this future with the mundanities of domestic life, but loses its way somewhat in later episodes, becoming too obvious (a man having an affair can't stop his head from turning?) Well performed by a fine cast; Thompson's Trumpesque rabble-rouser predictably steals scenes.

I rather loved it, as it went more and more from our curent dystopia to even more dystopian and also more batshit crazy and weird. Fuck yeah. Jessica Hynes's anarchist Edith stole the show, while Emma Thompson's Trumpesque character was perfectly rendered. It was a bit contrived at times, and sometimes lacked subtlety, but it swings hard a lot of the times and it urges us to bloody do something.

The first 4 episodes are Black Mirror but actually good: interesting thought experiments, good familydrama and eerily recognizable developments that work well because the realistic personal lives of the protagonists is always leading. The world spinning out of control on the background is actually quite scary. Then, the writing takes an incredible nosedive, the biggest in recent memory. I couldn't even finish what suddenly became some oversimplified spy/political pastiche: actually Black Mirror

Loved it, some shortcuts to speed up the narrative but very nice TV Show

Astonishing!!! Astonishing!!! I loved how they structured the story jumping from year to year, the depth of characters was simply amazing. It had the best articulation of the feelings of the transhumanist (not the self-proclaimed prophets, the actual people) and also the most gut-wrenching depiction of what the refugees actually go through. That end credit is the musical distillation of agony with a hint of GIST soundtrack. But above all, Viviane Rook, is one of the best characters ever created.

I had really high hopes for this show after the 1st and 2nd episode. But now that I watched it, I feel that the potentially solid show I hoped for was ruined by the director (and network?) decision to rush it off and pack it in under 6 hours. Even though the plot was (too much) centered on the family's issues, the character development was extremely poor at times. Having Emma Thompson as such a secondary character is criminal. Acting was overall good.

Billed as "Black Mirror" meets "This is Us". I don't care to watch any family's troubles for 6 hours. I simply didn't care. Shut it off and deleted the series in the middle of the second episode.

It's quite naive, it has a poor soundtrack, but the problems it covers are just outside the window. and this makes you think of the current state of humanity.
