Rohmer as I like him, deep realistic characters, strong dialogue, genuine emotion and and simple but effective cinematography that captures the natural beauty of life. The film is a nice little story about love and relationships, revolving around a simple little moral. It's wonderfully executed in all aspects and the ending, while a little too tidy, is perfect.

Rohmer will break me. I can see it coming. I will cry like a baby.

Charming and elegant as usual, Rohmer's filmmaking might not be always delighful, but still manages to be always contundent and genuine.

A charming trifle from Rohmer, noted for his appealing relationship comedies.

Watchable, but this is Rohmer's weakest feature, saying very little, and what is expressed has been done so much better, by Rohmer himself.

Between brief moments of great character interaction too much of this film doesn't work. Its a work that suffers from too much dialogue over these small moments of character emotion that work exceptionally. I'll also say, quite controversially, that the film is visually flat - Rohmer's choice of locations in urban areas in 80s France and the countryside is perfect, but the composition of them seems hidden in the background when it should be as important as the character's conversations.

I'm kind of split about this. In some regards I didn't enjoy it quite as some of Rohmer's better films, but there are some extremely effective moments and the ending is fantastic.

I always have the same experience watching a Rohmer film; I start out disliking the characters and then by the end of the film I like them despite the fact they have not undertaken any redemptive acts. This certainly applies to Lea, Blanche, Fabien and even Alexandre, as full as their lives are of dissatisfaction and uncertainty. Rohmer's unique talent is to convey, in cinematic form, the non-hysterical and highly transitive nature of love. Chaulet has strong Bulle Ogier vibes (a good thing).

Feliz dia dos namorados! Esse é mais um filme do Rohmer cheio de gente chata do caralho que o diretor transforma num grande filme, acho que o que mais gostei foi como ele usa as cores por todo o filme, também pela grande sequência final. Na Mubi.

A masterpiece. The ending is fantastic, so well done that I forgot this was somebody playing a role. Only reason I only give it 80 is that I do not favour romantic movies so much, especially when its about women's romantic relationships with men. I wouldn't call it a comedy, I didnt laugh even once, but its a light movie, no sad moments as an audience.
