The Spider

Full of glorious '50s cheese. In other words, perfect fodder for MST3K.

Stunningly dull, near impossible to watch in a single sitting, even with the MST3K commentary.

This film is rather interesting on a structural level - rather than put off the big confrontation, the giant monster is dealt with in the first act, but just keeps coming back as a threat. Sadly, the rest of the movie isn't up to that level.

Not much new here other than actually getting caught in a giant web. Still fun 50s sci-fi.

Kenney is very pretty, and the Sheriff was apparently the inspiration for Pat Hingle.

"Earth vs the Spider" epitomizes the quintessential '50s sci-fi flick, complete with its archetypal cast—the steadfast Sheriff, the knowledgeable professor, and the reckless teenagers. Amidst these characters, there's the not-to-be-missed, inconsistently sized giant spider, whose dimensions vary from scene to scene. An amusing detail is the improbable abundance of light within a supposedly sealed cave, underscoring the film's demand for a suspension of disbelief.

Forgettable, boring monster movie with a spider that screeches all the goddamn time. Stick a cork in it and stay being cute, Mr. Spider. Annoying characters, overacting the shit out of this movie
