Viral suffers from the same issues that a lot of horror movies suffer from, and it's really not that interesting. The disease itself lacks horror value, especially with a disappointing physical appearance, and the movie doesn't do it any help by failing to sustain a creepy atmosphere. Viral features some interesting scenes, especially towards the end, and the characters aren't typical horror trope protagonists, but sub par acting and very teen centric archs don't do the movie any justice

good for its genre, some scary scenes

Pretty much a gory Fear the Walking Dead led by two charismatic characters and a nice but naive sense of family bonding.

This could have been so much better if they hadn't gone for a really cheesy monster. Yes, I like cheesy monsters, but there's a time and a place and this intimate little family-unit survival movie really clashes with the zombies with worms coming out of their ears. Very solid otherwise, both acting- and mood-wise.
