Bio: Hi! I don't pop on her often, and when I do, I mostly do action flicks, because that's what I like the movie-going experience is about for me, by and large. I do a lot of reading, and not a lot of DVD-watching, at home.

"Close to the perfect movie. Just enough romance for the ladies, with the kind of action that most gentlemen tend to prefer. Best of all is the humor, that gives life to otherwise truly melodramtic parts of the movie. I am also well-informed that, despite the "fairy-tale" aspect of the story, the rapier fights were not only realistic, but the moves they mentioned are actual styles from historical research."
70 36% Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"What a guilty pleasure this movie is. OK, aside from the delicious evil that is Mz. Jolie, I'm of a mind that Ebert was right -- this is a movie about Pitt and Jolie, that happens to have "characters" and "situations" that allow them to "act". In this, it's a bit (a little bit) like some of the old school Hollywood star vehicles, the ones from the contract system. But it's lovable for that. It's not a complex film, but it is a sexy one, in many ways. It's amazingly pedestrian, bu"
90 83% Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"One of the two defining movies of the 90's action genre. Special effects that are still timely. And an actual story with emotional tugs, twists, and layers; you feel like someone actually went and wrote based on characters, not just plot and FX service. DIE HARD works better due to Willis and a simpler, catchy plotline, but TERMINATOR 2 is the brassy older cousin with panache."
65 30% Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"I'll be short -- goofy, funny, and oddly empowering. It's far better than any movie based on a Disney ride has any right, whatsoever, to be. Extra bonus points for the commentary track by the screenwriters, where you find out that they really did _write_ the movie, not just plug in some dialogue. This extends to the actual filming, where the writers were on set for much of the goings on, and not just for re-writes..."
80 53% Spider-Man (2002) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"I know -- superhero. Eck. Ugh. UNDERWEAR. But, in this case, worth the risk. Spider-Man was the first "normal" hero, and his everman persona comes out well in this feature. The romance ends (for now) with a very non-Hollywoodish ending that's true to the comic series. Worth a catch if you like action films."
90 83% Die Hard (1988) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Perhaps the best action movie of the 20th Century. Certainly highly influential; McClain was the explosive andonye to the uber-humans populating too many action flicks. A lovely film to watch without the kids."
45 16% King Arthur (2004) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"I really want to like this film more. The issue is, of course, that there's a film about very traditional heroes in here, blended with a tale about anthropology. It's dark, foreboding, and not a lot of fun, but not in ways that really touch you as a viewer. Oh, and Keira half-neekid, which is just damn distracting, and doesn't help the film overmuch. There's a good film in their somewhere, I know."
30 10% Die Another Day (2002) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Notice the lack of actual plot in the synopsis? That's pretty much the movie, too. Berry "ain't all that", and Pierce is not at his best, either. Bonus points to Pike, though. And a LOT of negative points for the CGI "stunt" towards the end (you know the one if you see it). All in all, Bond by a bunch of fanboy kids: painful and cold."
80 53% The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Even as a remake, this film kicks all over the butt of the Brosnan Bond run -- a run I actually enjoyed, save the last one. Classy, sexy, and smart film; Russo and Brosnan are firey, with both angling to best the other in this little game they play..."
90 83% Serenity (2005) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"An impressive achievement. I'm a fan of the series, but fretted over the movie; I remember Star Trek: The (SLOW) Motion Picture all too well... Joss manages to put a coda on the series he loved, while underlining many of the core themes from the series, and making a story that played well for most new audience members. Although some bits I felt were overdone (I _love _Book as a character, but his role was perhaps best left out), the movie manages to balance so many characters, ideas, and sce"
