Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) - Rated 20 Jun 2023
Ryan Reynolds worked surprisingly well as the titular Detective Pikachu. This is a heartfelt story and a pretty decent love letter to the games and fans. Maybe leans more into the first games than I'd really like, but that's pretty expected from the first main live action adaptation of the games.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) - Rated 20 Jun 2023
Boring as all hell, and a sad final entry into the main X-Men movie franchise. Didn't even have a good Quicksilver scene like the last two.

"Wow, Toy Story 3 had such a perfect ending. I hope they leave it at that." "Wow, Toy Story 4 had such a perfect ending, I hope they leave it at that." Your move, Pixar.

Midsommar (2019) - Rated 20 Jun 2023
I didn't quite "get" it as much as many others, but it's a great falling out of love story with some great body horror.

Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019) - Rated 20 Jun 2023
I know the pretentious "this is bad as a Spider-Man movie" gets a bunch of eye-rolls nowadays, but that's how I feel. It completely does not understand the character it's adapting, and is a great example of being a product before a piece of art. Am I a sour comic fan? Maybe. Well, ok, yes, I am. But I also just don't like this one.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019) - Rated 20 Jun 2023
Far from perfect, but I don't really get the hate that it's gotten after its initial release.
