I'm really a big fan of the hole Battlestar Galactica story, but this one is far far from the best they can create.

Not near the best of BSG stuff, but way better than Caprica which touched the bottom. I hope the series followed by will be better.

What idiot cancelled Caprica, a slow-but-solid origins story for the BSG universe, and replaced it with this crap? Terrible story that adds nothing to the mythos, padded out with terrible videogame CGI that seems to have had 1% of the budget of the original show. And lens flares, so many lens flares. And Cylon ice snakes. The people who made this watched BSG and thought it really needed robo-snakes. Or more likely, they never watched it at all.

I guess this was made because someone thought BSG needed robot-space-snakes and X-treme bloom effects. But no. It didn't.

By far the weakest addition to the reimagined BSG canon. Even so, it's fun enough I guess. Particuarly if like me you're ready accept that nothing will ever touch the genius of the series, and you're able get over the disappointment of the cancellation of the extremely promising 'Caprica' (for this!). If so, then this an enjoyable, if very lightweight and admittedly disappointing return to the Battlestar Universe. Too many lens flares!

It's a bit...rough. But at least it isn't Caprica.

As long as you come in expecting a story which is well below the level of intricacy and subtlety of the series, you will find plenty here to enjoy. Decent effort.

Not worthy of BSG.

More than anything, this telefilm reminds me of Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow; the over-reliance on CGI leads to variegated effects that nevertheless look unrealistic and ultimately prove ineffective at lifting the film out of its doldrums. As a backdoor pilot, the film lacks enough characterization or unanswered questions to amount to much. At least the returning actors all hold their own well, albeit in different roles, and Bear McCreary delivers wonderfully distinctive work as usual.

I remain a huge fan of this series. The story is twisted, thin and very cynical. There is some bad pacing, but acting was good throughout. I am eager for the next installment. Even though a full length movie, it felt like an extended episode of the original series with its trademark excellent audio and visual effects. It was a pleasure to see the gorgeous Lili Bordan and Luke Pasqualino was also a good choice.
