There is a scene in this movie where Dolph Lundgren has a phobia of the color white and is getting his ass beat while being in a pool of milk

decent if you're in the mood for some heavy 90s made for tv vibes

It's almost hilarious at times, and the suspense is constructed very well. The best Woo film.

It's ridiculous, but there's some nice stunts and it rarely gets dull. I agree though, this should have been a movie about Dolph & Fred bustin' punks up on the streets of New York.

What this movie should have been is Fred and Dolph as cops busting heads in a gritty NYC scenario, not this silliness and Rubinek adds to the silly tone with his eyepatch and accent. Even though this was directed by John Woo, it feels more like a parody of Woo than Woo himself. Blackjack needed to be shorter and snappier, not to mention grittier. As it is, it feels like watered-down Dolph. He does his usual charismatic job, but it's kind of hard to care.

our hero has a crippling phobia of the color white and a butler with an eyepatch and a bad accent. so many ridiculous elements in here that it feels like it was originally intended as a parody movie that got a hack job into being a serious one. i think john woo was on set speaking chinese but the budget didn't allow for anyone to translate his instructions. the scene where lundgren gets doused in milk and falls over was so epic it felt unreal.

A John Woo film so obscure I only found out about it looking on Criticker. The restrictions of being made for TV means that, not only is there no extreme violence despite Woo's trademark gun fights being present, but his directorial style is compromised. That said, because of these restrictions, the ridiculousness of the story and plot points - such as Lundgren's phobia of the colour white - stands out and makes it an absurd comedy. It's only for Woo completists but it's an amusing experience.
