CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

It's pretty hilarious how much this show likes to pretend it's intelligent but absolutely butchers the very concept of detective work. What's worse is that people have actually gotten wrong perceptions as to how crime investigation works because of this show. Aside from the fact that the drama is really poor while taking its bullshit way too seriously and the actors all seem to play one note characters, there's also stupid shit like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uoM5kfZIQ0

Have only watched a little of this or things like it, but, whenever I do, I invariably have to turn off as these programs, which are all the same, always seem bombastic and overblown, and to exemplify the worst kind of televisual pseudo-"realism".

Ridiculous implausible nonsense. If it was well written or entertaining I could forgive its stupidity.

To appreciate this, you have to accept that cases are condensed into the work of a few people over a few days when in fact they involve many more people over months or years. The science is fetishized, but often covers the basics well, including ethnic DNA profiling and trace materials comparison. This is basically "Forensic Files" dramatized, and the first two seasons are reasonably good with quality plummeting rapidly after that (the "NCIS effect").

Having read about it's supposed effects on criminal evidence gathering IRL and my brother and his girlfriend who love it -even played the games and stuff- recommending for so long, when I finally tried to watch it, it was shocking how silly it all is.

Found its continued existence super-annoying through basically its entire run. Looking to the mini-reviews on the right, I can see I'm not alone in that.

okay series

It tried to be smart, lasted too long and ultimately became just another show. Bummer because this one was really great when it first started out.
