If I had to take out my entertainment ruler and measure the two latest Chappelle's specials, this one just barely edges out the first.

OK but not uproarious.

The charismatic Chappelle, pulling a successful one-two along with "The Age of Spin", herein delivers one more effortlessly funny special. For me, his sociopolitical bits are his best and most interesting, even when I don't fully agree, whereas I felt his family- and celebrity-themed ones waned slightly in comparison, nevertheless "Deep in the Heart of Texas" is a definite winner.

Passable. Things start off really well and then kind of sink for a while until he gets to the story about his dog.

Starting off with his terrible encounters with fans and strangers like on Age of Spin, Chappelle then takes a more political and then later on more personal turn, and keeps up the very high laugh count, most of which supported by mostly crass, yet hysterical and often unexpected punch-lines. He delivers all these with a stage presence exuding the right amount of confidence/cockiness to make his material work all the more brilliantly. And what's going on at 17:29? XD

Here, Chappelle asks for a cigarette and chills on stage for a good 15 minutes - proving his cross-cultural appeal in an instant.

This set is a little rough around the edges, but Chappelle actually makes that a positive. At times, this feels as intimate as any stand up set.
