Echo

More flavorless MCU mush with stupid writing and a selfish, unsympathetic main character. The bones are there for a much better story, but Disney seems incapable of producing anything worth a damn these days.

Never watched the Hawkeye show so I didn’t really get the lead in to this. The Native settings & themes are interesting and there’s a couple cool fights. But overall it plays out in a pretty predictable way and for a show that starts like a Marvel take on dark cable antihero type shows the protagonist does the morally safe heroic thing like 95% of the time. The total runtime minus titles/credits/previously on is under 3 hours so I don’t get why this is even a series and not a TV movie.

Kinda boring but loved the Kingpin again.

Just not much here to be interested in. It's very difficult to make a compelling show when the main character is mute, but in order to do so you need excellent side characters, and this show doesn't have that at all. Most everything is forgettable outside of Kingpin, but even he is at his worst. The history of Maya's family and her Native American roots giving her powers is not the pay off the showrunners wanted it to be.

did marvel gave up on producing original material

S1: 5/10

Pretty decent. Not the best MCU series but not the worst either.

It's alright. It was fun to have small moments with Kingpin and Daredevil again. The story of Echo wasn't quite as exciting as I would have liked. I thought her character was interesting in Hawkeye, but I feel like they could have done something better with her than what they did here. It's nice to see them try something different, but this feels like a miss unfortunately.

watchable
