The core episodes (spring/summer/autumn/winter) are easily the equal of anything in Planet Earth or Life. As in those previous documentaries, we witness examples of incredibly sophisticated animal behaviour; here most notably killer whales' hunting techniques. The more human and earth-sciences centred final episodes are also excellent but don't quite match the spectacle of the others.

.I love BBC documentaries. Its not just taking some record about animals or ecology. BBC Documantries are really the pieces of art.

David Attenborough showed his class one more time. Probably the best documentary on Poles.

I love that it has a sense of humor to it and the bonus content is well worth a watch.

Very beautiful and certainly some shots/imagery I have never seen - but as the series went on I thought the scenery/animals/material became less unique and had last impact.

While its focus on a single biome is probably more educational and informative, it also means that it lacks the sense of grandeur and magnificent wonder that a globe-spanning series like Planet Earth or Life had. Of course, like everything else this production team releases, the photography can still be at times absolutely breathtaking in its beauty.

Another masterpiece from the BBC and Attenborough.
