For what it was - basically Disney's response to Batman: The Animated Series - this was really damn good. The tone was dark and serious, the characters were interesting, and the storylines surprisingly complex. Well worth a look (but for your own sake, skip season 3).

For a season and a half it's quite good but then it falls off very hard post-Avalon. The show is absolutely littered with plot holes and paradoxes, but it's still generally fun and features some very well known voice actors.

A quite good story for a goofy children's tale. The storyline is very cleverly written. I haven't spotted a single plot hole. It's also exciting and quite original. Sadly, the 25 minutes per episode format isn't particularly good for the seriousness of the story. I often felt that a very deep story remained shallow, but if you like old cartoons, I still highly recommend to check it out. It's not as good that you definitely want to finish it, but it's worth at least 10 episodes of your time.

I never watched Gargoyles as a child, but this animated series keeps appearing on 'best of' lists, and ultimately it was underwhelming. The show splits its time between a mixture of medieval & Arthurian myth & magic; modern(ish) technological sci-fi; and a mix of New York crime & dated cultural tourism. It's still entertaining, and while the characters have tons of backstory, they lack depth. The voice acting is mediocre, barring Tim Curry's brief appearances, with too many poor accents.

This is one of Walt Disney's better television series, with a great set of characters (though somewhat trope-ish, though it was the nineties) a great villain, and some of the best voice talents out there. Good for all ages and would recommend the television show, especially as it picks up quite well in season 2 with great story arcs (ignore season 3, the first 2 seasons can stand on their own).

Gargoyles had such depth, and you'd never expect it from a Disney cartoon in the 1990s. The psychology is excellent, and it features one of the most tragic villainesses in any show I've ever seen. I wish it'd continued its excellent path, but once they lost Weisman and moved it to Saturday mornings, its quality tanked. Still. Seasons 1 and 2 are fantastic. Do watch.

Fun premise and great character design. Keith David also lent it an air of gravitas that few kids shows could match.
