William Katt is a total nutcase in this, stick around for him deciding to just bury a dead neighbour who had his feet chewed off in his yard without letting ANYONE know ... he wasn’t even aware of the piranha situation.

While this Roger Corman produced, made-for-TV creature-feature remake, may have been made-for-"Showtime", the movie sadly feels more a kin to the later disappointing, made-for-"Sy-Fy Channel" level, Corman produced works. Despite some flashes of so-bad-it's-good fun, and while there's still a bit of cheese and low-budget charms to be enjoyed here and there, for the most part, the movie is just a strangely dull, dumb mess.

While this has TV Movie written all over it & is so mid-90's it hurts, I couldn't bring myself to hate it. Not as entertaining as the original & far too condensed for its own good (clocking in at a whopping 81 whole minutes) there are still some decent moments in there & some fun to be had. The piranhas look awful & the acting is meh, but the gore effects are honestly pretty neat & seeing tiny Mila Kunis was interesting. Not a must-watch, but it's a masterpiece compared to The Spawning.

I thought I was recording the Joe Dante version off TV, but I guess mistakes can be made...what I got instead was still a really flat and disinteresting horror film. The silly rubber piranha with giant yellow eyes were amusing, and for a film that might have been made for American television there's a surprising amount of gore and nudity (presumably it was made for a station like Showtime which had no problems with this?), but it's pretty dull.

Near exact duplicate of the original.

This Piranha version is even worse than the original. There were 2 hilarious scenes in it of 2 seconds. It wasn't even so bad it's hilarious... I was dissapointed. But a piranha made an eagle sound
