This show definitely delivers on the promise of the title. The stories are simple, brutal and impossible to misunderstand survival plots told in a totally wordless, cinematic style that relies heavily on expressive sound design and starkly beautiful visuals. Nature red in tooth and claw.

First season 90ish, second season 80ish, it's less fun the more serialized it becomes. This is the ultraviolent version of a kid smacking dinosaur toys together with great animation - do you want a tyrannosaurus eating children in the first episode? If so, this is the show for you. Also, "The Plague of Madness" ep might be the single best piece of zombie media... ever?

Although I preferred the episodic first season, I understand why the show transitioned to a more linear story. The choreography is more intense in the first season, but still pretty solid in the second.

Starts off amazingly well and truly delivering on the promise of the title, but as the story goes on it becomes more generic as typical themes take over the plot. Would've been better if it hadn't tried to merge so many different time periods into one and forced a typical love plot.

Looks well made, and the main duo are compelling as characters. But the plot is extremely simplistic and failed to hold my interest. Gave up after episode 4.

If one can get pass the gore, the human aspects of the series are heartbreaking (ironically as none of the characters are human - sans a guest appearance in the last episode). A carrying theme for the series is unifying hurt. Brilliant and uneasy.

Glorious, glorious bad-assery. It's like an R-rated "He-Man" cartoon with no dialogue full of blood and guts. 2 seasons ends the main story, with more promised in the future with new characters.

Just the prehistoric fantasy I like, of a kind they gave up doing. I wish the narrative was more subtle, but that's OK. For a commercially viable, gory cartoon with no dialogue, it's daring enough.

Stark, raw, and hyperviolent, Primal is a lot of fun at times, though in other moments it tends to be predictable. Still it works well for what it is, and is a nice turn from Tartakovsky. The season finale in particular hits like a sack of bricks.

Absolutely amazing. This could be the dawn of western adult oriented animation that is not comedic. previously almost exclusively the realm of japan. This requires some suspension of disbelief, it is not historically accurate, but accuracy is not the point, the story is. This is beautiful, do not miss out on it.
