This 50s sci-fi/monster B-movie, produced by Roger and Gene Corman, is unsurprisingly solid for being the low-budget drive-in filler that it is. However, while the titular "Giant Leeches" look laughably silly in their trash-bag-scuba-suits, the movie isn't exactly so-bad-it's-good. Instead the movie is generally just boring straight forward monster movie fare, where the slow pace and dead air makes the MST3K version the best way to enjoy this forgettable B-movie.

One of the so bad it's almost good movies. It was just missing that cheesy, campy fun element that would propel it into the much loved so bad it's good category.

A bullshit movie that further advances the negative stereotype Hollywood is always trying to push on us about leeches.

More technically competent than most B-movies, with a major exception for the costume department. Never really that ridiculous, just mostly boring.

Yvette Vickers is hot, but those leech costumes are god-awful even by the standards of other B-movies of the time.

One of those movies that is bad enough that it's good, but not that good.

Bad in a funny dated 1950s way that has a really dumb charm to it. I can't wait to view the MST3K episode that covers it.

Hey, at least it has Yvette Vickers (you can't ask for much more than that from one of these things).

Even though the leeches were laughably bad looking, this movie was much better than I would have givine it credit for.

Though the monster suits are so lousy you can actually see the actors' air tanks underneath, this grungy American International flick provides a minor kick thanks to solid acting (especially Vickers in her best role as VeSota's sex kitten wife) and some surprisingly grisly moments.
