Cold Creek Manor

Well filmed with good scenes and suspense built up decently. Rather predictable which keeps it from moving higher. By the way Sharon doesn't show her stones.

Quality atmosphere of menace. Figgis' soundtrack generates quite a bit of anxiety. His direction is an insult to the talents of Quaid and Stone. The much disparaged "snake scene" takes two self-respecting professional actors so far over the top that it undeniably becomes the director's fault. Figgis must have thought that he was Kubrick, and that this was his turn to Shine. But it wasn't. :(

Bad enough just to watch if there's nothing else on TV.

I always get this title confused with Cold Comfort Farm. This is not that movie. This is a boring thriller.

the disappearing wound

From LEAVING LAS VEGAS to… this? From FAR FROM HEAVEN to… this? I could probably play this game all day, but this is such a strange, colossal waste of talent that it will definitely stick in the memory as a nadir for all concerned. The problem lies mainly with Figgis, who lacks the light touch to make this sort of silly melodrama entertaining; brings to mind Scorsese’s CAPE FEAR in seeing a great director fall (almost in Scorsese’s case) into genre pot-holes and not be able to extricate himself.

The whole movie relies on Stephen Dorff being intimidating. 'nuff said.

Dennis Quaid spending his talent in vain. The script was pretty horrible.

Pointless.

A mediocre thriller whose cast will get it more of an audience than the plot. It's ok and mildly entertaining.

Unless you just love seeing families being terrorized, I can't think of any reason why anyone should watch a film so bereft of original ideas.

Sharon Stone's triumphant return... not really. But don't worry, Basic Instinct 2 is coming down the line for her.

What a disappointment. No scares and a secret that comes to early and underwhelms.
