Will they get together? Won't they get together? 40 points of the score is Paul Newman.

Not as good as the other books by Nicholas Sparks that were made into movies.

Not a big fan of Romantic films. But this one is definitely of a different vein and can get one to truly feel the pain. The character interplay and climax was nothing out of the ordinary. Well for die-hard romantics this is one to watch.

Robin Wright and Kevin Costner create wonderful characters in this marvelous story about people getting on with their lives after losing a loved one. Paul Newman was also an awesome grouchy old dad. The story is tender and poetic. The relationships are awkward but believable. You can't help but like these characters and feel their pain. A lovely story, full of hope, love and possibilities. Great music and scenery. The ending was sad, but the movie is impactful and well worth watching.

The redeeming factor and strength of this film is its relatively lacking score and shifty editing stressing every action and emotion, instead partially enveloping its otherwise cloying plot in naturalism.

I guess this is supposed to be a weeper, but the movie just seemed kind of flat to me like some other films based on Sparks novels. Oh well....

I've seen probably half of Nicholas Sparks' adaptations, and this first movie of his...I never saw until now, and it's not bad at all. Nick Sparks is often predictable, but still has the ability to pull one over on you, and the same applies here - PLUS, I really appreciated the mature relationship in this film that carried baggage - which is realistic. It's not a bad adaptation. Biased: 88% | Unbiased: 82% | Predicted: 64%
