True horror lies in realism. If you've ever found yourself thinking "this shit could actually happen to me" then the film has done its job. This is the entire premise for "Secuestrados". It's essentially every other home invasion flick you've ever seen, but grittier, bleaker, more violent and with impeccable cinematography. There must have been, at the very least, ten shots. When you consider the length of the film and the action happening on screen, that's mighty impressive. Kudos to all.

Intense. The astonishing cinematography ought to be Oscar-nominated. I found myself pulled out of the film, wondering how they achieved such lengthy, complex shots. It must've been extremely demanding for the good cast - and challenging for the crew, too. Trying to forget this mastery for a minute, the plot points we have seen in any other home invasion thriller. The style, however, makes them work. Be warned, though: this has probably the most bleak scene (I won't spoil which) I have ever seen.

Whaaaa whaaaa whaaaa whaaaa whaaa nwhaaa whaaaa whaaaa gnwaaaah whaaaah whaaaah...Takes the generic 'kidnap family in their own home' theme...whaaaaa whaaaa nwhaaaa whaaaaa whaaaaa whaaaa...couples it with the even more generic 'cold leader, crazy muscle, and sympathetic young guy' kidnapper team makeup, and...whaaaa whaaaaa whaaaaa gwaaaah whaaaa waaaaaah...then adds a whiny girl who screams literally half of the...whaaaa whaaaaaagh ngwhaaaa whaaaang whaaaaa...movie. Whaaaaaa.

Holy hell, this was one intense and dark movie. The story is pretty basic and what you'd expect from a film of this type, but the presentation lifts it to an amazingly realistic and nailbitingly brutal level. If you enjoy long takes, this is definitely a great example of how to use them to increase unease. The ending is just... just... damn! Holy shit. I think I need a drink to calm down a bit.

The everlasting camera drives were astonishing! The horror parts were also well done. Only what I did not like was too much of screaming face of Manuela Vellés. And the story was a bit short, no background to lay on. But thanks to RapeyVessey for a tip.

I am outraged that Netflix only offered the godawful English dub of this movie. That was easily the most horrifying aspect of it. But looking past that, there is a lot about this movie that's admirable. They used a really low number of shots, and used a cool effect of filming a couple scenes side-by-side, just putting them on screen next to each other. It is a pretty brutal and senseless home invasion movie, but I think they worked that concept about as well as they could.

This is a very very intense non-supernatural horror. Be prepared.

Secuestrados belongs to an age when the production values of horror cinema have risen, so we get to see good makeup effects on well-lit, good actors, adding to the impact of gruesome graphic violence. Conversely, it is one of many works of modern horror that slavishly follow a formula, the "home invasion" in this case. We've seen less contrived versions of this same story before.

Loved the directing, but the movie was weird, sometimes predictable and repetitive.

A very simple story, told extremely brutally. I was surpirsed by how few twists there were in this film, but the way it plays out is very compelling. Just be warned that it is very hard to watch.

For a genre that is consistently predictable and monotonous, it seems that all these films can do is try to one-up each other on the viciousness. To its credit, this is probably the most violent of them all, so fans will be satisfied. I'm an infantile person who loves watching people die, but the violence here comes too easily for it to pack much of a punch. The final shot, which I trust was meant to be disturbing, had me laughing hysterically. And the split screen gimmick was terrible.

Very weak attempt at a psychological thriller which barely gets out of first gear. The setup was fine but the story needed to develop 2 or 3 more levels of complexity in the 2nd act. There was no up and down of the drama, no twists, no character development, just a few surprise killings and gore. And the girl's acting was not an amazing performance, it was just annoying. Maybe the director was attempting to marry realism and the thriller - he certainly failed if that was his idea.

"Whereas Vivas's aesthetic is initially intimate, a raft of split-screens and circuitous tracking shots soon call undue attention to themselves." - Nick Schager

Zaskakujaco dobry thriller. Intensywny, zawierajacy kilka interesujacych pomyslow w kwestii filmowania (dzielenie ekranu). Nie jest to film idealny, ale pozostawia dobre wrazenie.
