"Refers to films about cults, not cult films, and where a cult is understood as, in a general way, a religious or quasi-religious organisation possessing characteristics such as being tightly-knit, excluding or minimising outside contact, having strongly-held and highly-specific beliefs, and so on (in other words, the everyday understanding of "a cult", not some more general anthropological concept)."
