'Adaptation' is one of the greatest films ever made, and that's it. It's the kind of film I could go on talking about for two hours, it is a nearly perfect essay on free speech, artistic individuality and, well, Hollywood. It's the fucking David & Goliath of filmmaking. It's Kaufman's very own shrine to himself, and damn he deserves it. It's the film that introduced me to a whole new world of films.

I can't help but compare Adaptation to Barton Fink and come out that the Coens did it better - just everything you listed.
