I'm quite a fan of crass humour, but even this was just too much for me. That kind of humour here can be incredibly blunt, which can work, but usually if it's snappy and concise -- but the pacing of the sketches, even amusing ones, can drag so badly. Nowhere near the level of greatness it's heralded as, I find Chappelle's stand-up to be far more funny, thoughtful, and certainly better paced. I laughed, but only occasionally.

it's a shame he didnt get to do more of this in a way he wanted to. this is what he's best at. and i'd argue, and we could prob check the evidence, that he didn't really negatively affect racial shit enough to warrant removing his positive influence on it. but the crowd def started gassin him. it's fun taking yourself back to these times.

Chappelle's Show is one outrageous romp right after another. Dave Chappelle just throws everything at the wall as often as he can and intentionally tries to get in as many stereotypes as he can. I was just as often unable to laugh because my jaw was on the floor. However, there are plenty of sketches that are trying too hard to be offensive and not funny but that's a tradeoff that you have to take.

I do not understand the ratings. I have seen two episodes and sometimes it was almost that I felt bad for him. Key & Peele did it best... way better.

Pretty much every episode had at least one skit I'd consider to be great. More than 10 skits from its short run of 2.1 seasons I'd consider to be masterpieces of the genre. Sad that it ended when it did, but at least it didn't flame out like most tv shows. Personal favorites are anything with Tron, the Player Haters Ball, and every time Dave dances.
