I can't figure out the point of this. I tried googling "what is the point of a new dark Sabrina?" but it didn't help

It's stuck in an in-between place of not-enough-ness. It's too serious, and not serious enough. It has a big budget but not big enough. I do like the way the idea was updated for the 21st century, and the spookiness of the production. Unfortunately, this cauldron of Addams Family, Harry Potter, and Riverdale simmers at just above room temperature when it should be boiling. I realised it wasn't worth my time when I started watching the second season, and barely remembered anything from the first.

I made it 15 minutes until the principal defends the football players when sexually assaulting a girl because?? and they decide they're going to start a political group to"topple the male patriarchy" make me vomit with this propaganda crap netflix is getting into with their 5 second eye contact sexual harassment rules its a nightmare over there.

It takes itself too seriously, there's not enough emotional stakes, and it suffers from the typical Netflix original problem of episodes running on way too long. That said, it does manage to keep my interest, and I love the overall aesthetic here. Just needs some more fun and spice.

It had its moments, but never totally clicked with me. It felt like it tried too hard to be Serious and Important at times, but was too derivative and silly to escape the genre pieces and go anywhere really interesting. Keen to see if Riverdale is a more interesting take on the source material.

Uneven in places but thoroughly enjoyable to watch. The relationship between Sabrina and her companions strikes me as a relatable distillation of high school life. The narratives are largely satisfying and gesture at larger, universal themes but a few, particularly those involving lesser important characters, could have been more fleshed out. The greatest problem with the CAOS is that I wish it had more time to explore its characters. Which, in the end, isn't a bad thing at all.

Definitely itched my spooky bone this Halloween season.

First two episodes are ok, although it was already unfocused then. Afterwards it's just boring filler until the last episode...which was ok. Many boring characters, parroting propaganda crap, which leads to unrealistic scenarios (the principal NOT acting against the sexual harassment part)...as if the main plot isn't disappointing enough. The actors are mostly fine though (her boyfriend being the one really bad actor).

Never finished. She became irrational & the show's "wokeness" overpowered the plot halfway through the show. Some of her friends were insufferable. The aunties were lovely, for the most part. It was just a little too hip for its own good. Had a lot of excellent story elements & pretty good actors, for the most part. Nice to see a diverse cast but at times the show was a little too self-congratulatory with its didactic messages. Felt forced & illogical.

Suffers the same inconsistencies as Riverdale regarding character development, but the sheer entertainment value makes up for that. Who doesn't love a slice of gory teen angst? Season 1 sets a nice premise with a few dull parts though, but the show soars in season 2 - looking forward to the third season.

An extremely lopsided show. When it goes dark, it's highly enjoyable with fantastic images & hypnotic cinematography. On the other hand, "Sabrina" engages traditional teenage TV territory that is just plain silly at times. It also borderline plagiarizes The Shining & Harry Potter. Regardless, I am waiting impatiently for Part II in April.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is silly and often contradictory, but does dish out some fun in its ridiculousness. Worth watching for Otto, Davis and Gomez. Does suffer from several teenagers tropes though.

Season 1 (parts 1/2) was decent, doesn't give you much reason to keep watching but it's entertaining and creative nonetheless. Season 2 (parts 3/4) was batshit absurd and is worth watching just to try and figure out where they're going next. The second to last episode is something really special. And then the overall ending... what even. I both hated and loved it.

(TV) Starts out paying due homage, then loses sight of what 'brina is all about as a character or a show: empathy! There are times where it nails the dark teen-exploits vibe, but there are also way too many silly, clumsy drama beats (egregious handwaving of bullying/abuse, etc) that I personally found problematic - whiplash plotting and glibness undermined the strong turns and positive representation. Still hoping that one day Richard Coyle will get a proper role! He's ace when he's on screen!

I expected a light family show, but I was so wrong. Sabrina is a sharply written adventure drama about a brave and intelligent 16-year old girl who lives two lives: simultaneously trying to oppose the forces of darkness, and embracing them to gain more power. The task is near impossible, but not just for Sabrina, also for the writers as they guide as into a world that's both very dark and very goofy. Yet somehow they make it work. Put aside your prejudices. This one is recommended for everyone.

Great start but it got super dark really quick and it was more depressing than fun.

Not for me. Too juvenile and american.
