While Truffaut's adaptation also failed, it was relatively faithful. This one attempts to modernize a story that didn't need modernization. Combine that with some piss poor acting from pretty much everyone except Shannon--but his character's shittiness lies in writing that makes his actions and motivations make absolutely no sense. I'll probably sound old, too old for the target audience, when I say: go read the book, you hooligans!

Missed opportunity. Tried to update the material but it still felt bland and unrelatable

A bland retelling of the classic tale. Aside from looking pretty good, you can skip it.

What’s the ignition temperature for a movie? Because this should have been put in the oven before being released.

An off hand attempt to try and get us to question what information we are truly receiving. Jordan and Shannon spend most of the film in a very secretive brotherhood and most of the film being weirdly affected by graffiti when a lone on screen. It was polarizing because the source material is even more relevant in todays world; Yet the film chooses to focus on one mans choice to defy the only rule he has ever known without first really showing us the depth of what he is destroying.

Not total trash, but needed to be a lot better to keep me interested. The idea and concept are great (I didn't know this was a remake). It is very much a "dystopian future" type story, in the same vein as '1984' but didn't have the same intensity or depth. The production is great and you wouldn't know it's a TV movie unless you told me and I'm a big fan of both Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon but even they weren't enough to lift this film.

High production value, great cinematography & editing, and the actors doing their best in an insane reworking of a classic that tries to Divergent-ize Ray Bradbury.

Doesn't really feel like it justifies the decent-sized budget. Jordan and Shannon do their best but aren't given a whole lot to work with (especially Shannon). Jordan's character should have been married and The Hound should have been in it. But the movie is still okay, despite the flaws. Still tackles themes that are relevant and is mostly entertaining with a few shining moments. Just should have been so much better.

Unbelievably disappointing adaptation of one of the great dystopian books. I thought it started out promisingly enough, but it utterly falls to pieces. Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon are both so much better than the material.

People based their opinions just reading the headlines. Some old classic books now can be offensive for some people. Let's put this on a new Fahrenheit 451 movie! Good premise. Not so good development. Poor ending. IMHO.

Dull rendering of what should have been interesting and provocative material (especially in the Trump era) has a nice dystopic look to it (BLADE RUNNER meets MINORITY REPORT); Shannon comes off best as the snarling, hissing villain but Jordan rather surprisingly gives him nothing to play off. Attempts to shoehorn a romantic subplot into proceedings is misguided at best. It's fun to see Dullea pop up for a few scenes, especially against the prevalence of HAL-like machines in this society!

Where people would rather live in a fascist hell hole than go to Canada. But seriously though it's very silly. Usually the moment-to-moment events in the movie are silly but the overarching plot has a little bit of sense, but this is just silly stacked on silly.

Worth watching for Shannon. Michael B. Jordan does well too, and it's actually quite strong visually; it's in the adaptation department that this one fails

well, in my experience, TV tends to flesh out main stream movies, which due to short running times, have to scoot over the intricacies of complex plotlines. "Dune" is a classic example. F451 is the reverse. It gives nothing more than a vague idea of what the book is about and comes across more like an example of Fan Fiction, rather than an adaptation. Thats not to say I didnt enjoy it; it was quite fun, and Shannon and Jordan were OK, but is a bit like watching "Fahrenheit 451 for dummies"

A poor adaptation to the classic, with an attempt to be "relevant". Was the book not relevant enough? The movie fails to display the dangers of a complacent and apathetic society to war and suffering, seems to only focus on one theme, book burning. It hardly goes beyond this. This movie was wasted potential with the material to be used from the book, as well as the given budget and cast. The actors worked well with what little they were given. Very disappointing, just skip this one.

Love the book, and while a modern update to the story sounds like a good idea, this one was poorly executed.
