Sticks closer to recorded history than most movies of its type, which was smart - a true story this rich needs little embellishment. High production values, a stellar cast, and even-handed direction keep it out of the hickspoitation genre, where it easily could have found itself. Well worth five hours of your time.

Probably the best original programming to come out of the History Channel in a very, very long time. No doubt Costner's experience in the western genre, as he served as a producer in addition to starring in this, benefits this piece dramatically. Combined with Paxton for the two leads, you've got some stellar actors in this that really give you a sense of both the virtues and flaws of their characters and how a pride can turn a small alternation into an all out family war.

Led by Costner and Paxton, you've got yourself a solid little mini-series. I'm not too familiar with the actual historical events, but this made for entertaining TV. Certainly not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Saw the first part only. It's not bad but I struggled a good deal to keep myself interested and decided not to finish it.

I somehow lost interest in who's killing who and why. Forgettable TV filler material.

Well made mini-series with a good cast. It isn't great nor factual but it's efficiently entertaining.

If this was a book, I'd have branded it "a real page-turner". The five hours just zip by.

Bill Paxton as McCoy, Kevin Costner as Hatfield. This 3 part mini-series covers the biggest family feud in American history. Costner as "Devil" Anse does a great job as the bad guy, Paxton is also a great bad guy... The lines are blurred in this story between good and evil that it is hard to guess who to cheer for. I found myself siding with the McCoys most of the time. Great drama, wonderful acting and just all around a really good film for it being on tv. Great job History Channel!

Loved to see Costner again, very strong in this genre. Also a special notice to Berenger. The rest of the cast did very well to. In the beginning the directing went a little to fast to grip but futher on the pace was good.

Aside from the romeo and juliet subplot and the historic freedom of the story line, The History Channel did a mighty fine job. There is lots of shooting in the woods and Paxton looking like a crazy old man. Berenger and Costner shine in something that feels much less than 4 1/2 hours.
