Human Planet

Disappointingly average. Not a bad viewing but doesn't seem to be creatively powerful or even as magical as series such as 'Life' or 'Planet Earth'.

Contains some very good photography and some remarkable moments, but overall this is disappointingly simpleminded and too often underwhelming. It also has a rather irritatingly formulaic way of introducing each episode with a montage of images of what is to follow, and concluding each episode with a similarly unnecessary "recap." Given the resources expended, much more could surely have been achieved. The final two episodes were the weakest, perhaps leaving an unfairly poor impression.

The people are amazing, the places are amazing, the filming is amazing, but the way narration and music are used expresses a very Eurocentric point of view, and makes it feel like I'm watching some sort of ridiculous Man vs. Wild show.

With stunning visuals, this documentary shows even more impressive people and their fight for survival on some of the most dangerous environments.

The beeb have made some amazing documentary mini-series over the years, however "Human Planet" isn't one of them. It does have some extraordinary moments, often displaying some amazing people, and the photography is often excellent also. But something is missing here, and overall it just feels like it could have been something much more substantial. It undoubtedly relies on its photography too much and tailed off in it's final episodes with something of a whimper.

human planet. not a planet with -also- humans on it, but a planet which belong to humans entirely. like: this is a man's world! featuring the primitive survival methods in comparison to mass-murders, and we feel good, the lesser of two evils is still evil.

Humans are the most unlikable species in our planet and this film didn't change this opinion of mine one bit. Sure we came up with some genius ways to kill every other animal and exploit Earth over the ages, but I don't really enjoy watching how monkeys gets shot. Photography is as good as you would expect BBC nature docu. In my opinion, better series could have been made, even with the same topic.
