Mulaney: "Mr. Byrne, thank you for being here. Your work adapting Gilgamesh for West Berlin was particularly inspirational to the kids." Byrne: "Who else is in this?" Richard Kind: "HaLlO!" Mulaney: "So, what we have here is a dress from Frozen. Oversized, so I'm told. We'll do this number that'll be upstaged by a New York Moments song, then we have a Volcano bit." Byrne: "But I'm scared to death of volcanoes." Mulaney: "Yes, yes we know. It's for the kids."

It's charming and playful with a bit of darkness running underneath it all, but not funny enough to make me laugh out loud. Favorites were probably the childrens movie focus group and Mr. Music. Casting did a fine job finding such a charismatic group of children and Mulaney himself feels both genuine and sarcastic at the same time, like a warm knife to put up to your cheek when you are cold. Disclaimer: I have never seen any of the shows that this show is clearly spoofing/honoring.

John Mulaney can do no wrong (feel free to quote this in a decade when he does wrong).

Mostly boring and mostly unfunny for its mercifully brief runtime. A couple of mildly humorous moments especially with Jake Gyllenhaal. But the kids' dialogue isn't funny when it pretends it isn't scripted when it obviously is.

Mulaney strikes a good balance in this charming original. I got some laughs, catchy tunes, and it asks plenty of random and existential questions. We're all in this together, kids.

I'm gonna have that stupid noodles and butter song stuck in my head for years.

A true gem. Is it ironic? Yes. Is it unironic? Also yes. The humor 100% will NOT be enjoyed by everyone, so I don't think I would particularly recommend it, but I, personally, had a fantastic time with Mr. Mulaney, the sack lunch bunch, and several wonderful guests.

Personal bias in that John Mulaney is one of my favorite comedians, so him writing song that are great homages to kids shows I grew up with? (Out of the Box, Zoom!, Sesame Street being the obvious examples) It's targeted comedy that I just love. Like any collection of skits that are all around 5 minutes long, some wont land with people and be 5 minutes of boredom. But I felt most of the skits landed perfectly.

Well, that was different. I think this is supposed to be parodying something like Zoom and its ilk. I'm not quite sure how to go about reviewing this. It's basically sketch comedy/music done by Mulaney and a group of children. I loved the flowers song.
