Archival footage captures the various sporting events on the day in question and the emotions they generated, with O. J. Simpson's run from the police overshadowing an NBA Finals game between the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets, the opening of the U.S.-hosted 1994 FIFA World Cup, the last-ever U.S. Open golf tournament round for Arnold Palmer, and a parade in New York after the New York Rangers finally won their first Stanley Cup in decades. Really well edited, it really seems to capture the insanity and drama of the day very well.

A film about how modern media encase moments in amber, about the inherent accessibility of today's past, about moments as culminations of history & as seeming inevitabilities, about the impossibility of viewing the past through any lens but the present and the horrible little ironies that produces. About how the procedure by which news is constructed and the anticipation of something newsworthy happening have themselves become the apotheosis of newsworthiness.

A good day to be watchin' sports.

One of the best of the 30 For 30 series of sports documentaries. No talking heads, no exposition, no narration. Just lets the news reports and archival footage of the day speak for itself. Master class in film editing.

Surprisingly well handled and done. Would rewatch multiple times. OJ didn't do it. The coolest part was seeing what a freaking circus this was. I mostly followed the trail, didn't see the day this all went down in news footage like this, only as look backs in multiple other documentaries (big OJ fan here)

It was weird to experience the O.J. saga without knowing anything about him prior to the murder. I didn't grow up with him as a sports hero, or a media personality. It was important because it felt important. I am unsure if you can even explain how all-consuming this news story was to people born after the fact. I think this doc does a great job at being a found footage piece that helps explain the media circus surrounding the story.

I like the idea as much more interesting than a talking heads doc. The behind the scenes stuff with Costas and the baseball announcers is great. I think the saddest thing about this entire thing is that the 1994 baseball season could've been the greatest season of all time. The sheer volume of coverage of the OJ chase, given everything else going on, is so absurd. OJ being pursued by police is NOT more important than the NBA Finals. A great look at how our society ended up here.

Really engrossing. It's always impressive when you know the ending (of each of the threads, too) and it still makes you feel like you're on the edge of your seat.

Normal me: More of a historical artifact than an informative doc. An interesting look at the day and culture (and soul-sucking voyeurism) surrounding one of the biggest pop culture events of the 90's. The lack of talking heads or narration was different and interesting, but I feel ultimately wouldn't hold up if looking in depth at any topic. Racist me: Arnold Palmer retiring is easily the most emotional part of this film.

Superbly edited and it becomes truly powerful at moments. Was never aware that the day held so much in the World of Sports, and a day of Optimism and Reflection ends in tragedy.

"Found footage" in the traditional sense and a tremendous exemplar of what it's all about. The central, unfolding event gives momentum to the relative unimportance of the other big sports stories, a slow, pleasant, appreciative news day dawns into horror.

A masterpiece in documentary editing. Using found footage and a simple score, this film recounts an emotional representation of history over a single day. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Easily the best 30 for 30 and one of the best documentaries I've seen as well. For a day so incredible to the point that it feels like myth, you might as well let it speak for itself, and that's exactly what happens. The last five minutes or so in particular are pure brilliance.

One the craziest days for sports in history and over all a crazy day that no one will ever forget.
