Ordinarily, I don't care for anime, but this one stands out as consistently true to its themes (namely, the extent to which people invest themselves in the appearances they project to the world), with variegated and memorable character designs and quirky, genuinely fun humor. Mako and Gamagoori work well as comic relief characters. The last few episodes degenerate into boilerplate anime fight scenes, but the character development works so well that one almost doesn't even notice.

Its got everything. Its funny, edgy, good action, good character designs, sexy, and a wacky story. Once you think you figure out what the show is about, the show goes like NOPE. Its actually about this other thing that is way bigger and wackier.

I absolutely adored this. The blend of weirdness and crazy action did it for me. The kinetic violence and animation really complimented each other. But then it also had a good amount of emotional depth and comedy that worked most of the time. The premise is neat, taking an odd idea and WEARING it beautifully.

baffled at how theres a bunch of people who criticise the animation in this show. the many bits with limited animation work well, often as slapstick. yet theres still such constant movement on the screen, where as other studios would add a pretty background to a static shot, trigger keeps things moving, and as a result klk is vibrant and energetic and of course, bat shit

Ultimately this was a pretty shitty show. At least the music was good for the most part.

Kill La Kill is as unique of a voice as they come in the anime world, and an incredibly clever show that doesn't really flaunt its awareness whatsoever. KLK collects story and character cues from mahou shoujo, slice of life, shounen, and even mecha animes and truly flips them on their heads and destroys them thoroughly. KLK really took the anime community by storm, and it owes that to its crazed and wonderfully crafted animation, a cast of lovable characters, and its gripping twists and turns.

just because you say it's satire doesn't make it a) satire or b) effective satire. most situations in life fall into the first category. I guess this is in the second

There are many works that claim to satirize the male gaze by exploiting it - but of all of them I've seen, this one has the strongest claim to actually doing it. This show makes thoughtful, meaningful statements about gender, sexuality, nudity, and the construction of social hierarchy, while cramming in the amount of incident you'd find in three or four episodes of a more usual shonen anime. There are absolutely problematic bits and things I'd take out, but it's so smart and so fun.

too much sexualization of teenagers. still a solid story and nice animation.

My enjoyment was inversely proportional to the episode number. As refreshing in the short term as tiresome in the long term.

An anime that demonstrates how to make use of a small budget to create some of the best and most creative animation to date. Despite the little frustrating amount of filler episodes, Trigger Studios do achieve an intersting parodic narrative of typical anime shows nowadays.

Kill La Kill could have been something great, but due to being Trigger's first big show, it was kinda doomed to just being alright from the beginning. It's a show that lives and dies by its animation and the animation was lacking most of the time. Great cast of characters and a fun story, at least.

Hilarious pro-perversion, anti-dress code (?) hysteria that moves at the speed of a coked up dolphin.

A fast and loose series. The constant energy and crazy fights make up for some of the more poorly thought out areas. Successfully integrated a low budget into its style better than any other anime.

Kill La Kill suffers from taking its thematic ideas to laughable extremes making its attempts at drama impossible to take seriously. To be blunt, its theming of image and feminine sexuality is hard to take seriously when it ends with a conspiracy surrounding clothes taking over the world. For what its worth the cast is colorful enough to never be boring and the presentation is badass, but it handles build up and character arcs poorly to the degree it makes you wonder "what was the point?"
