I remember enjoying the comics, but something felt off about this adaptation. Instead of a decent focus on the keys, we spend too much time following high school drama. The colour grading also seemed a touch too warm for outdoor scenes, dampening a needed cold, mystery vibe. The set-up for the 2nd season was also too contrived.

The acting is atrocious.

Good googly moogly. These are some of the dumbest, worst-decision-making characters ever put on TV. Season 1 is a bit dull, but season 2 is actively painful at times. Just an awful, awful cast. Edit: Season 3 is an all-timer. Legitimately the worst decision-making main cast in a show that's not deliberately trying to make everyone a bumbling idiot. Bode might be the dumbest character in TV history.

How do you turn a beautiful, terrifying, detailed and specific comic book series into the most generic fantasy thing imaginable? These writers have the formula down for that. What a disappointment and what hurts the most is that this was probably the only shot the story had at an adaptation. The characters are bland, the story is changed to even more bland levels and there is no tension or menace or conflict. I'm very sensitive cause this was the first comic book series I ever read :/

Starts very brightly with warm-hearted, witty, tight-knit sibling drama plus magic key shenanigans. Unfortunately whether because it's taking too many cues from the source, or too few, the show often veers from schmaltz to fairly tone-deaf nastiness in a blink and there's a slew of fairly problematic subtexts that are just brushed over. The characters mostly fall into nonsensical/self-sabotaging behaviours for the sake of plot-padding that undermine their obvious smarts and the shows potential.

Appallingly bad writing with acting following close by. As the show progresses it deviates more and more from the comic so that nothing but main characters are left by S03. Did I mention that the show is badly written? Did I mention that acting is bad? Avoid.

something interesting could have emerged from that idea but imo it didnot. maybe it is my expectations to see something with more suspense, chills and pain. this one feels more fairytailish and not so catchy. ok, it is not sci-fiish so not to compare with Stranger Things or Dark...closest to kids+supernatural would be "It" wich had better kids dynamic and more "believable" n palpable mystery/horrors.

It's not bad, but it's not all that great, either. It escalates why too fast from whimsical to OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING. It would have done well to spend more time exploring different keys, character arcs, etc., and less time on trying to be a Marvels series.

On the one hand, it’s terrible adaptation of the source material that fucks up just about everything the comic did well. On the other hand, it’s a shitty series all on it’s own, drenched in idiocy and cliches. I swear the most improbable thing about this series is that any of these characters made it into high school without dying of stupidity-related circumstances.

Watched the first few episodes, it gave me the spooks so I tapped out.

Season 1 much better. Not sure I'll finish season 2.

I certainly didn't fall in love with this series, but I definitely enjoyed it. The acting was (mostly) pretty good and all of the leads had a really good rapport. I haven't read the graphic novel so I can't comment on its faithfulness to it.

Last episode of the first season left me a little cold but for the most part I quite enjoyed this. From the opening episode I was intrigued by the set-up and the mysteries it revealed, and I still am. It doesn't become an all-time great show by any means, but I also didn't feel that it fell into Netflix padding, staying instead at a crisp 10 episodes. Cared about the characters for the most part, there was some heart.

I wish they had made this more of a fun fantasy rather than a creepy dark drama. It could have been a lot of fun. Lots of familiar faces in this show. Poor Georgie is getting typecast into creepy things.
