In 2001, Louis Theroux decides to set out on a journey to interview Michael Jackson. When Michael comes to the UK, Louis approaches Uri Geller but gets turned down. He then finds out that ITV has been granted an interview and Louis sets out for LA to meet a close friend of the Jackson family, promoter and magician Majestik Magnificent, who claims he can set up an interview with Joe Jackson, Michael's father. However nothing seems to go easily for Louis and his target seems further away. (imdb)

Disappointing that he didn't get to interview Michael but still quite interesting to see the people whom Michael apparently associates with. It was especially worth watching if, for nothing else, to see the interview with Michael's father. Plus you get to see how much Michael, his friends and his fans absolutely loathe any sort of press. Humourously enough Louis Theroux probably would've given Michael the most unbiased and humane portrayal he's had in ages.

I'm not a fan of Michael Jackson, but I'm a fan of Louis Theroux, so this is entertaining to watch. The best part was his interview with the guy who as a kid just showed up at (a young) MJ's hotel room and successfully interviewed him -- that tape must be a real treasure of his. Although Louis himself doesn't get to interview MJ, he does get interviews from others to reveal just how fucked-up MJ's upbringing was.

It's very interesting to see the whole time period from Theroux's perspective, It's fair to say he uncovers just as much as Martin did in his documentary with ITV. It's fair to say Martin was kind of mean to Michael but he did find out some interesting stuff.

This is Louis at his most aggravating, deliberately provoking his interviewees, and I hate to say that the material he gets is some of his best.

Very funny Theroux' docu, about his quest to meet MJ. Those fans were scary, they seemed more dangerous than religion freaks that were shown in the earlier dicus by Theroux.

I didn't like Louis' aggressive approach to some things, which made it often quite unpleasant to watch. The interview with Joe Jackson was very awkward. Highlight of the film was Terry George's interview with Michael on tape.

Hardly vintage Theroux but worth watching to see Louis uncharacteristically off-form, losing himself in the build-up to questions and saying all the wrong things at the wrong times to screw up two interviews with Joe Jackson. It allows us a quick glimpse into why Michael may have decided to keep any homosexual tendancies secret, but that's about as meaty as it gets. Uri Gellar pops up a couple of times, coming across like a dodgy plumber cornered on one of those rogue trader programmes.
