It is nearly ten years after Voyager's return from the Delta Quadrant, and the Federation is in a crisis. The Federation's main suppliers of dilithium crystals are disappearing. Space and time have folded around several planets, effectively isolating them from any contact with outside worlds. And this phenomenon is not natural - someone or something is causing this to happen. This necessitates drastic measures; some of which are outside the Federation's normal jurisdiction. (imdb)

Continuing TV's Star Trek as a fan-film with the involvement of the shows' alumni had me hopeful, and willing to overlook many flaws, but ultimately I was let down. There is a decent storyline in the film but it gets bogged down by wooden acting (forgivable), mediocre direction and a terrible script (unforgivable). The costumes aren't great and the production is passable. All this results in a film that's a little boring, overdrawn, and unfortunately hard to watch.

I was never a Trekkie and this 2015 fan effort wasn't going to make me one. Cheap looking and only an excuse to bring back random Star Trek actors from years passed.

Oh Tim Russ, how I wanted to like your work, but the fact is you are a good actor and not a good director. The plot premise isn't awful, but it's clunky in its handling, and the third act is just a letdown. It also suffers from budget limitations and you feel it.

"Star Trek: Renegades" is an indie fan project directed by Tuvok, with appearances from some Star Trek alumni. Intended as a pilot, it never evolved into a series and will only interest die-hard Trekkies.

Even though I'm a HUGE fan of the star trek franchise, this miserable installment entirely disappoints. Casting, acting & writing was terrible. Crappy costumes. Performances were awful. Even Sean Young & Chekov were bad. Visually the CGI was clean but utterly lifeless. Lousy sound & music. Horrendously bad direction & rotten acting completely destroy it. Worse even than a bad episode. Tim Russ sucks as a director. A truly shameful treatment for a once beloved series.

It's not that terrible aside from plenty of wooden acting and an incoherent climax... but I'm not mourning the loss of a potential series if this goes nowhere.
