Tales from the Loop seems to pride itself on its slow pace and tempered tone, but I found S1 to be too tedious to be enjoyable. The plots seem to be a mix of temporal sci-fi and human fallibility, and I found myself enjoying the former aspect over the latter. The characters tend to link each episode, but their depressing stories or self-imposed problems meant I never really got on board with where this series was going.

Retro futuristic, aesthetically beautiful science fiction almost like anthology (but loosely connected) which doesn't rely on flashy scenes, action-like pace or but relies on slowly developing story with gentle and wonderful soundtrack. Each story is intriguing in its on way, not all are equally good. Big fan and a nice counterweight to all the mainstream shows which usually don't have the guts to be slow and subtle. Sci-fi ideas aren't anything new though as far as I can tell.

Sad stories packed in science fiction clichés.

I was a bit skeptical when I heard they were making a series based on the art of one of my favourite painters, but this blew my expectations out of the water. Warmly human stories told with a sci-fi backdrop. But the sci is not the point, the people are. Contemplative, meticulously beautiful, and touching.

Based off of the first episode, which was so detached and unexciting that I bailed on the rest of the series - going off these other reviews it doesn't look like it improved. Just go and look at or buy Stalenhag's art, this doesn't add anything to it.

Unfortunately less than it could’ve been. The few interested ideas here have already been explored elsewhere. The pacing is usually subdued, which is fine on some episodes, but others not so much. It’s almost like an anthology series, yet it tries to loosely connect things, mostly in the S1 finale which ends up being disappointing in how little it does. The cast is good, and the second episode is an enjoyable, but depressing one. It’s just unfortunate the script isn’t up to par, especial

Slow doesn't necessarily mean depth and substance. Dragging it out with no meaningful conversation, narration, or significance is like hearing someone at a dinner party drone on about trivialities, slowed to a snail's pace. The whole e01 could easily have been condensed into 10 min. But even then, it would still have been an empty experience.

Slow, melancholy atmosphere. With some interesting ideas but without explanations since it has been cancelled.

Watched the first episode, which was slowly paced, boring and uneventful. Essentially an anti-pilot. No excitement or wonder of discovering a new world through cerebral sci-fi. Good Philip Glass & Paul Leonard-Morgan score though.

Premise was there, execution was not. e01 was my favorite. e03 and e06, why did these exist? Fantastic soundtrack.
