The only real criticism is that the reasons for the breakup aren't delved into that much, but given the amount of involvement by the surviving three had that's to be expected. I came away from with this with a different perspective on McCartney; yes, he was too controlling, yes he's a sellout, but he was consistently the backbone of the group and tried hard towards the end to keep the Beatles together. Side note Ringo has had terrible tastes in fashion and personal grooming since 1970.

It's an interesting view of the life of the Beatles, but I just keep getting distracted by Ringo's earring. Why did he think that was a good idea?

☆ Pretty interesting, but in the light of Peter Jackson's new documentary "Get Back", this one is looking a little dusty. Really long, and really boring! ☆

Quintessencial not only for Beatlemaniacs, but everyone with some kind of interest in music. My only complain is that they didn't talk too much about the Abbey Road sessions, and Phil Spector working on the Let it Be recordings.

The word that comes to mind is thorough. A band this great deserves this kind of treatment.

Obviously any Beatles fan should just adore this, but even if you aren't I'd say you have a strong chance of becoming one after watching it.

What's great about this documentary--besides the terrific footage--is the way it allows us to experience Beatlemania from the vantage point of the Beatles themselves. A must-see for any fan.

I'm an unabashed huge Beatles fan, so I probably overrate this. It's a really nice overview of their story and a mostly candid peak behind the curtain of the world's greatest band.

The Beatles Anthology is an entertaining, if not a very essential piece of fluff film-making that's never quite able to capture the enormity of its subject matter.

Fantastic. Though I agree with lostinlodos, much controversial subjects were passed over. Still a solid insight into the beatlemania craze and the following years as they experimented musically and personally. What is there is completely fascinating.

Obviously Beatles fans are going to eat this up but I showed it to my little brother when he was 14 and didn't "really get what was such a big deal". He then asked for this for Christmas. Even if you hated the band, you cannot deny their impact and influence and this film goes a long way into exploring that.

A very "pro-beatles" mini-series. Not that that's a bad thing, it just skips over much of the real turmoil in the 70s.

This series will make you fall in love with the four lads from Liverpool. Brought to you in their own write, simply one of the best documentaries ever made about the greatest band of all time. This is a rare inside look to how The Beatles helped shape an entire decade's music, fashion, and mindset while making that message perpetual to future generations. If you want to truly know about this band and the sheer magnitude that was Beatlemania, then look no further than The Beatles Anthology.

One of the best documentaries I've ever seen. This is essential viewing for any fan of documentaries, The Beatles or even film-making in general.

Excellent series. All these years later, the music is still so fine. Even the remnants of The Beatles themselves are simply fascinating, and in a whole different way than I knew them previously. These are middle-aged men who come across as... not quite immature exactly, but as big wads of cookie dough, due to that, whatever we all know about them, they all have led such ridiculously charmed lives that the fires of hell have never licked them the way that us ordinary folks have had to bear

Ok, I didn't see this one, nor will I. But as this is at the very top of my recommendations, and there's no way to get rid of it...

Essential. Just an exhaustive amount of information contained within. Worth the purchase just to hear the great George Harrison's attempts to deal with an increasingly controlling, not to mention self-important and irritating, Paul McCartney ("I'll play it however suits you!"). The best part of the whole enterprise, to me, is the amount of UNCUT material and performances. Rather than getting a couple of short clips of a video or performance, we're blessed with the complete works in many cases.
