S1: 75, S2: 40, S3: 55. Everyone in this production is on an increasing amount of opiates throughout the running time and the droney slowness feigns depth but just gets utterly ludicrous as you feel the creators rolling to the moon and back on their own supply. A pity, because the first season (* after which the director changed) really had an interesting perversity and realistic police procedurality to it. All in all it's oceans wide, but half an inch deep

Dour grim and plodding at times, it still merits watching based on its intelligence and refreshing lack of handholding.

This was an alright show, if a bit too grim and serious for its own good. A great showcase, if nothing else, for the talents of Anderson and Dornan, and very psychologically astute.

Slow moving but also pretty original in its take on the serial killer genre.

I watched the first season and deeply hated it. It is like watching a snuff movie, I really questioned myself "why I am watching this?". Hyperrealism might have a strong effect sometimes but not with every subject (like open-heart surgery for example). Anderson's character is like cardboard with distaste drawn on it, I just couldn't take anything happening on the screen seriously; it didn't engage me at all. It is one of my worst watching experiences, despite okayish production quality.

Strong first season, but went downhill from there. The second season was a hit and miss, while the third was a complete drag. The first episode is basically a medical drama. A lot of storylines weren't finished and were over useless for the general story. Who killed the detective from the first season? Was Paul's wife convicted of attempted murder? Is the latest boy-toy going to fully recover from the injuries to his hand? But Gillian Anderson is absolutely phenomenal.

The last season erased whatever was good about the first one and decent about the second one. It was absolutely unnecessary and felt like a money grab. A limited series would have been better overall since it might have eliminated all the loose ends and not have the characters devolve into stereotypes.

It was fine, but they dragged it out far too long.
