Not sure why I've never felt compelled to watch this until now. Totally bonkers, if not goofy, but always within the realm of sheer awesomeness, and you can tell they had a great time making it. Looks like McLovin was inspired by QT's rapey look in this film.

Gee, I don't know. It was often entertaining, but at the end I wasn't left feeling particularly satisfied. In fact, I didn't feel much of anything -- just empty. Pastiche-filled action, gore, cool quips and such aren't really enough to excite me unless there's something that makes me feel like there's something, anything, some sort of point to it all. It doesn't have to be something profound at all. This just feels hollow.

The first twenty-odd minutes are a lesson in why Clooney's screen presence and Tarantino's scripting, when he's on the ball, are both virtually unmatched. I consider the rest of the movie to be apocryphal. It's a damn shame that the movie ends in the middle of Selma's belly dance.

This movie is sweet in every possible way. Tarantino's best acting job ever, Clooney is a legitimate madman with a heart, and Harvey Keitel plays a believable disillusioned religious man. The movie goes from awesome to "Ohmygawd!!" the second Salma Hayek makes her unforgettable entrance.

It's practically two movies in one, with the wild new direction the plot goes off on in the second half. I prefer the opening act myself, mostly for Clooney and Tarantino's dastardly Gecko Bros. That, and it always bugs me how the vamps just stand in a circle and rush our heroes one at a time. Hayek redefines sexy, Keitel is always believable (no matter how ridiculous things get), and Clooney is awesome in a darker role than he usually gets to play. The final shot is incredible. Fun movie.

The first half was engaging and intense, with Clooney at his best. All five of the central characters are intriguing and believable, and they really draws you into the story. Then there's the infamous second half. Suddenly this fascinating character piece turns into a bad Tales from the Crypt episode, with stupid-looking vampires and cheap gore effects. We are introduced to a whole new cast of parody characters, and we lose all sense of intrigue as nobody knows how to end the movie.

What starts as a Tarantino crime flick soon turns into a full-blown vampire killing cesspit. I mean that in the best way possible. Harvey Keitel and Clooney both provide great performances, and the appearances of Danny Trejo and Cheech Marin are greast as well. Salma Hayek provides with one hot dance scene. Plus, the great Tom Savini makes an appearance as possibly the single most badass character ever, Sex Machine. Tarantino and Rodriguez both shine as filmmakers. Pure fun.

"I'm peachy, Kate. The world is my oyster, except for the fact that I just rammed a wooden stake into my brother's chest because he turned into a vampire, even though I don't believe in vampires. Aside from that unfortunate business, everything is hunky-dory." I doubt there's another movie on the planet that pulls a U-Turn like this. George Clooney is superb and makes the black humour work perfectly. Highly recommended vampire killing flick that has no illusions of being realistic.

I wish I had friends in Hollywood so I could make a movie where Salma Hayek sticks her foot in my mouth. My guess is that Quentin Tarantino didn't have to do much acting in this flick, as he seemed pretty comfortable in the role of rape-y paedophile.

Only after their explorations in genre excess in Grindhouse do I finally get what Quentin and Robert were trying to achieve here: a grindhouse experience in miniature, two films smooshed together connected only by their celebacy to bonkers movie ritual. It turned me off before but something about a midnight screening let its marinated parts congeal into the perfect forced-meat ham. The performances are flawless and, especially in the second part, the editing is fast and expertly nuts.

Gangsters, strippers, vampires, gleeful and indulgent violence dealt with pithy humor- male adolescent fantasy pure and simple. That in and of itself is no condemnation, but in the end it feels more like a pitch session comprised of jocular fanboys and not really a coherent film. Suitably entertaining for those in its target audience (including me) so I can't complain too much, though.

The vampire stuff is honestly the worst part about this movie. This is Clooney 2 years before Out of Sight, and in the midst of his ER days, so he wasn't the known quantity that he is these days. It's cool to see him play such an anti-hero. Tarantino is actually really good here, and Richie Gecko is legitimately one of the creepiest characters I've seen in a while. The opening scene is awesome, and there's a lot of good campy humor. Juliette Lewis is fucking terrible though.

I didn't expect it, but I really thought this film was awesome. Especially the first 45 minutes. Typical Tarantino, quick and sarcastisc dialogues, wild action, all those Tarantino-moments we love. Te vampire-thing was less good, but how stupid it may be done, I still liked it. Very good role of George Clooney and again I get the impression that Tarantino himself is the least good actor, just as in many of his other movies in which he appears..

Calling this good might be taking things a bit too far, but it does contain a number of good moments. Even though it doesn't add up to much it's fun to watch Clooney ham it up and Tarantino's dialogue is entertaining. The plot twists are ridiculous but they're meant too be so like everything else in the film if you take it for the silly entertainment that it is it's a good time.

LOVE this one. I could watch it 100 times and not get bored of this. Clooney shows the chops that'd make him a huge star in a year or two. Tarrantino and Rodriguez are at the height of their powers (and hubris) here and are clearly not afraid to do whatever the f--k they want. "Psychos don't EXPLODE when sunlight hits them! I don't give a f--k, how crazy they are!" might be one of my favorite lines ever. Clooney's climactic freak-out should be preserved in a vault somewhere, it's that great.

The first half is amazing, matching the best of Tarantino's output. Love the dialogue. Clooney's hero is beyond cool, and it's a good role for Keitel, too. I also like the second half, and the idea of suddenly going nuts halfway through is awesome. Two highlights are a panic-stricken John Hawkes and Salma Hayek's dance number.

I liked this more than I expected, possibly because it has no pretensions about what it is, possibly because I was very inebriated. I also have a fondness for trashy B-movies and unlike a lot of other Rodriguez films, this one captures the B-movie aesthetic in a satisfying way, especially past the halfway point. I also like south of the border films and wish more American filmmakers would venture into Mexico (and other countries). Not great, but definitely one of Rodriguez's best.
