More classic 80's fodder. Childhood sentimentality gets it to a 60 but that's being generous. Likable enough actors , familiar robot teen script. Sometimes charming, sometimes boring , sometimes silly, unless its nostaligic you probably aren't going to get anything from this.

Muddled sentimental fantasy which doesn't seem to know where it's going.

Pretty lame sci fi adventure for children starring that dopey looking kid from The Neverending Story. Forgettable.

Typical 80's family sci-fi fare. Not awful, but not worth choosing over so many other better family flicks.

A lot of the ratings here seem to be from an adult's perspective as the re-watched a film from their childhood. That's not the correct way to approach this film. It is not targeted at middle aged adults, it is targeted at kids. And if you were a kid when this came out, you probably loved it then. The rating given here is based on what it is, a fun film for kids in the 80s.

Didn't entertain me as a kid like I was expecting it to.

Barret Oliver was a decent little actor in his day, here holding his own in a piece that has an appreciatively unhurried build-up as the young android learns how to interact in the outside world, before descending into lazy, random action guff towards the end. Revisiting a film I enjoyed as a child but hadn't seen for a good 20 years I didn't have a problem sitting through this; but I couldn't recommend it to anybody else.
