Is there any positive to Hick (apart from Chloë Moretz's performance)? If there is, I can't think of it. It's dank, depressing, and offers nothing in the form of redemption or purpose to all of it. There's no lesson and no point, or at least not one that was accessible. Despite its dark tones, it's too silly to take seriously. When it's over, you come away with nothing. Hick's a bad film and I can't give you a reason to watch it.

This movie had a lot of potential. I will say one thing about this, it has some tense moments. Moretz heads out on a trip to Vegas alone because she hates her family life. The rest of the film she runs into every possible low-life scum who all pretty much try to rape this 13 year old. I'm not sure exactly what this movie is trying to say about the midwest, but if I were to guess it's that they love little girls and do a lot of cocaine. If you like tense scenes, this will deliver.

Luli's parents are rip-roaring drunks, she threatens investment bankers wearing rainbow panties and wielding a .45, and there's this creepy vibe that rolls like wind through the grass. All that is inside the first 15 minutes. The conversations are sooo creepy in the early part of the movie, but they lend the movie a certain... uncomfortable nature which is kind of engaging. And then, there's the implied rape scene. Yeah. It's a pretty bad movie, but it's intriguing. The ending sucks, though.

Chloe moretz's performance is really good, not even taking into account that she was probably 14(!) when this was shot. As far as the movie goes: it starts out interesting enough, gets on the wrong track somewhere halfway through and peaks in needless absurdity. Its conclusion is overdrawn and underwhelming at the same time, and there seems to be no point except "don't get in the car with strangers".

Hollywood's unsettling use of Chloe Moretz--here playing a 13-year-old who runs away from home and meets a cowboy (Eddie Remayne) with an unhealthy interest in her--continues, but that isn't the film's biggest issue. That would be its total pointlessness and aimlessness; whatever director Derick Martini or writer Andrea Portes were trying to say is unclear, and the result, though sincere, is rather pitiable. A good performance by Moretz and a welcome cameo by Alec Baldwin can only do so much.

I watched it because I wanted to see how well Cloe would handle a tough character, and I am glad - and proud of her - that she did it well. I'm not into stories about this particular demographic, but ultimately this movie is about a girl who wants out of a dead end, so it's enjoyable.

My God, these people should be banned... I don't think I've ever seen such talentless filmmaking. Most of the dialogue stinks, and Martini clearly has no clue about how to put a scene together. It's unsurprising that the actors appear to have no chemistry - they're feeding off scraps which I can only assume looked better on paper. Let's not even mention the creepy and stultifying "how-many-ways-can-I-get-raped" teen road movie plot. What a car crash of appalling taste and minimal ability.

Unusual drama with quirky characters.

Well-acted, colorful, watchable, sometimes ominous, but mainly just kinda...there. Moretz is solid, and Baldwin's turn near the end is a standout, but mainly this is just kinda...there. I liked it while it was happening, and there were a couple memorable moments, but mainly it was just kinda...

Really strange film. Moretz is a competent performer but the characters' actions and reactions are so bizarre that it's very difficult to care about any of them. People seem to do random and extreme things, with little discernible reason. For all Moretz's acting ability, the 13-year-old that has been written into the script is not remotely believable. Occasionally some nice bits of dialog but overall I think this film is pretty poor.

Rather tragic. Full of rednecks, creeps, and overall damaged characters. Chloe's talent is wasted here.

Look at the poster, CGM with a gun looking awesome. Sadly this is not the story and the movie doesn't live up to this hype. It's more angsty and emotional and just not exciting at all.
