Viewed June 28, 2020. Very much related to Cary Grant's repeated failed attempts to fall asleep in uncomfortable places.

The first half was much better than the second half mainly because of the verbal sparring between the two leads. Once the leads get married the film goes down hill. The second half is silly but since none of the situations would or could happen nowadays it all just seems more absurd than funny.

Cary Grant is very funny (in drag and out) and Ann Sheridan--a great straight "man"--seems to have fun watching him be funny too.

The story is whatever but grant and sheridan have loads of chemistry. The fastpaced banter and jibes are some of grants very best. Lots of hilarious scenarios including of course cary grant in drag

I like this movie because it's really difficult for Cary Grant to get it in, and Ann Sheridan has a nice laugh.

Wheezy, dated farce does give Sheridan a fun role, and Grant does his usual best with what he's given, but even taken in historical context, the film is too long and padded, taking far too long to reach conclusions the audience has already arrived at - which is ultimately poisonous in a screwball comedy. Surprisingly little is done with the very brief 'comedic centrepiece' of Grant in drag - which plays quite awkwardly and uncomfortably (and isn't remotely convincing, even in a farcial setting.)

This film is a Cary Grant vehicle meant to show off his trademark acerbic wit but he doesn't click with Ann Sheridan so it feels like you're watching a trainwreck marriage in progress and is quite uncomfortable. On its face I Was A Male War Bride is a screwball influenced comedy but I read it as more of a cautionary tale about committing to a relationship with a person you don't really like just to get in bed with them.

As incomprehensible as it is for Cary Grant to have so much trouble getting it on, I loved the crisp dialogue and episodic humor. Extra props for the "We got past the sensors! last-shot sex analogy": The erect Statue of Liberty through a porthole. Zing!

The witty banter was there but I've never been a fan of the comedic Cary Grant.

Very funny, I really enjoyed watching this movie. Cary Grant is witty, handsome, and silly, too. I loved it.

This was equally funny because of the satirical material and because the same material being beneath Cary Grant who took it sportingly good.
