The Princess Switch

I'm not a fan of Hallmark movies, nor sappy love stories, nor Christmas movies in general. This ticks all the boxes. All of the characters here are as one dimensional as a line on a piece of paper--yeah, I tried to come up with some searing, clever criticism there, but that's all I got. This movie sucks, except if you're a girl, then you might like it.

Everything works out for everyone in this movie. Two dudes and they both get to bang Vanessa Hudgens after the movie’s over. At the end my wife was like “she’s not gonna win the baking competition” and I was like woman wtf you think this some challenging narrative, everyone’s gonna unambiguously get everything they want and the endings gonna be sickeningly sweet as a cake with nothing but frosting and whaddaya know I nailed it

My brother recommended this for our annual Christmas-themed movie advent. Apparently it’s the kind of thing actors love-hate-watch to see fellow professionals under duress trying to salvage their IMDb. I don’t need that level of anxiety. There’s one Main Street scene where it looks like the PAs forgot to blow fake snow over the holes in the set. My brother and I are currently not on speaking terms. Our next film is Christmas Evil (my pick).

I can't believe I liked this. The premise is absolutely ridiculous, but in a charming way - and this is a charm bomb. Has all the good qualities you could want from a dumb little TV movie. Vanessa Hudgens delivers an Olsen Twins-level performance: slightly questionable, but two for one! Really though, she's alright.

Major rush through semi-predictable plot points. Nothing truly unexpected and a little too much happening. Yet, you still can't help feel warm and fuzzy when everything turns out happy in the end. Even despite the shameless Netflix self promotion.

Fairly generic Christmas straight-to-video movie that doesn't pack any surprises. The budget was quite low, making the royal setting unbelievable at times. For example, the formal ball guests wore cheap prom tuxes. The baking drama was unnecessary and trivial. The prince was bland. Did anyone expect Kevin to be so ripped? Fav scene: after the credits, when Netflix recommends other films, I was amazed to find there were TWO sequels, each crazier than the last. Count me in as a fan.

An absolute cringe. In that respect, I loved it. Not one memorable line or scene.

There are better princess swap movies out there but it is a Hallmark rush job what can I say

Fun movie. Actors are really good and story was interesting.

It follows the same formula as many Hallmark Channel-style Christmas movies, but surprisingly I enjoyed it. It was cute and sweet.

I'll be honest. I expected this to be really bad. Like Christmas Prince bad. I was quite surprised that it was quite enjoyable and gave me 90's movie vibes. Bit cringe to see actors from Christmas Prince to have a cameo. Fuck them.

Cheesy. I liked it.

Don't have a lot to say. I guess it always works a little better when you watch it at Christmas time. *Okay
