Pretty nice. Sort of harks back to Fucking Åmål, but less optimistic and well, nowhere near as good. Nice though.

Fucking Paris. Or maybe that's unfair, Water Lilies is a different film; the sheer awkwardness of being in a teenage body, full of teenage hormones, with a whole world telling you exactly what to do with it, learning when to move in time with all the others and when to take your own steps.

Viewed February 24, 2020. The desire to be liked, and the things we will endure to convince ourselves that somebody likes us as much as we like them.

A sincere and passionate (and also sometimes pretty naive) tale about the toughness of first discoveries. This is a teen's world of many social encounters, but mechanic, automatic reactions: the girls find it hard to connect with each other, and the contact is always desperate, yet cold. Water Lilies' uneasiness is almost unbearably real.

A bittersweet tale of adolescent coming of age that tells of a world of confused sexuality, insecurity and pressure for young women to match up to perceived 'ideal' body images. The point is driven home by cinematography that almost seems like illicit voyeurism; the camera sexualizing its subjects in the same way society has. It results in a film that will be uneasy viewing for men or women, but probably for different reasons.

Great depiction of the awkwardness and naivety of adolescence. This movie treats its characters seriously and realistically -- that's quite rare when the characters are teenage girls! Quite well done in every way. Highly recommended.

Boring and badly written. Made by a then 29-year old lesbian director lusting over these young girls and then dating one of the 18 year old leads doesn't sit right me. What if a straight male directed this and then dated Adèle Haenel with a similar age difference? That feels wrong to me. Regardless, the plot and characters are boring and nonsensical and it doesn't go anywhere. Avoid.

Interesting movie, but feels a bit empty, as if nothing really happened.

Disturbing look at a young confused couple of french teens. Well acted and interesting although it's very creepy in a pedophilia kind of way. Main problems are it's creepiness and it's slow pacing. It didn't put me to sleep or anything. It was just kind of slow. Didn't hate it; didn't love it.

A well performed, well written, nicely shot and sweet drama about the pains of youth. I enjoyed it, and found this movie at times very touching, but its success with you will most likely depend on how much you relate with the characters and their awkwardness. I suppose I didn't relate!

Lírios d'água estreava há 15 anos no Festival de Cannes. Em honra do dia internacional contra a LGBTQIAfobia. É o tipo de filme que vai no ponto de quanto a adolescência é uma merda e o quanto se complica se você é queer. WEBRip no MakingOff.
