An honest, restrained, and powerful gold nugget of a show that somehow emerged from the vapid wasteland of network TV. The teen relationship stuff is sometimes cringey, but most of the time these characters feel so real you'd believe they live right down the street from you.

My favorite TV series and perhaps my favorite piece of art/media ever created in any medium. An achingly emotional, raw, powerful, hilarious, tragic, thrilling, quietly epic tone poem about life in small-town America. Love Coach Taylor and Tami and Riggs and Matt Saracen. Yes, an entire season (season 2) is notably and egregiously not as good as the other four. But those four are so good it's still a 100. Consider seasons 1 and 3-5 to have 110 ratings if you need it to mathematically check out.

The Wire and Friday Night Lights are my two favorite TV shows ever. From coach's wife Connie Britton on down the line, the ensemble of female characters is the best written, best acted, and most beautiful of all time. Every character on the show has struggles and is a three dimensional person. American television literally does not get better than this.

Coach Eric Taylor is a character filled with heart and so many of the storylines are based around him shaping youth into amazing people and helping them through their own personal struggles. A cast like very few and solid through out the sensational 5 year run like very few. Easily one of the best shows I have ever seen.

Kind of a corny show at times but has great acting, particularly Michael B Jordan

like Gilmore Girls but about people who are actually worth caring about and rooting for. the first season is some of the best ever aired on network TV, and this score would be higher if season two wasn't one of the worst

There is something really magical going on here if you look past the sometimes angst high school stuff. Chandler's Coach Taylor is one of the best television characters of all time, and Britton, Plemons and Kitsch put in top notch performances.
