Kinda mid overall, but the standout episode The Autopsy pulls my score up all by itself.

S01: I hoped for more. Almost all the episodes have a lot of potential but, frustratingly, don't stick the landing. Some end abruptly just when things get interesting (s01e02,05,07) probably because they ran out of ideas. Others rush the ending and force character development and plot points to happen too fast (s01e01,04,05), probably because of runtime constraint. The only episodes that felt fully developed are ep. 3 and 8. The others seem more like a waste of good ideas. Still, a fun watch.

Every episode is stretched out as long as it possibly could have been. Some are okay, most are insufferable. Don't waste your time with this one.

Del Toro's anthology starts decently with the Tim Blake Nelson episode, and Babadook director Kent reteaming with Eddie Davis closes the season on a high note. Except for David Prior's entry (episode 3: "The Audition") the rest are skippable - and I did, actually, opt to skip two of them... And while I was a bit disappointed with David S. Goyer's script for "The Audition", the Finchery craftmanship from Prior is once again promising and the first half of his episode is best of the year material.

Very big disappointment. These stories feel dated, redundant, lifeless, stale, lacking in true horror and like true 'truth', aka emotional truth. I'm mostly disappointed in Ana Lily Amirpour's episode. The Autopsy kinda worked. Some of the episodes I could call 'blandly competent', I guess. How sad! Did we really need 2 Lovecraft episodes involving paintings and witches?!

Watched over several months. These are all period pieces with amazing set direction, each with a different tone, theme, quality, and, frankly, a level of gore. As an anthology, it does its job of potentially exposing you to new creators and ideas. My appreciation of horror as a genre is more in the abstract, so I am not sure what is merely interesting in this set, but there are a few pieces that are either fun or give you something to chew over.

I expected a lot more, especially with Del Toro in the mix. He serves only as the bankroll and 'presenter personality' for this eclectic mix of verious directors takes on surrealist horror. All are benign ideas, none stick with you; a woman buys a beauty lotion to change, and changes for the worse. These are new directors and all have their errors apparent. It's a great idea, a genre I adore, and an execution that leaves a lackluster impression.

One October night I happened to watch an episode of Masters of Horror, which is pretty bad as a series btw, called Dreams in the Witch House. Completely by chance that same night I turned on an episode of CoC by the same name. The coincidence was truly the spookiest thing that happened the entire Halloween season. There is good stuff in CoC, no complete duds.

Elbette içinde oldukça etkileyici bölümler var. The Autopsy(3), The Outside(4), The Viewing(7) bölümleri hoşuma gitti.Esasen görsellik, sinematografi çok iyiydi. Dizinin kamera arkasının kamera önünden daha iyi olduğunu düşünüyorum.

Fantastic production values and some real directing/acting talent but just too often falls for the cheap gross out rather than a real scare.

I really liked "the viewing" and "the outside", they have their own personality and atmosphere and both ooze style. The "autopsy" was fun too. Most other episodes are very generic and often too silly, not scary at all. Least favorite are both Lovecraft stories.

E3 The Autopsy & E7 The Viewing are the only ones worth watching; The Autopsy is a excellent genre piece while The Viewing works if you're into Cosmatos' vibe a la Mandy (it has a great depiction of cocaine conversation where someone's just talking at you, not with you). The other episodes range from the passable (first and last) to the ridiculous (E5 Pickman's Model & E6 Dreams of the Witch House).

Frankly boring. Tried Lot 36 and Outside, but neither did anything interesting. Characters have no value to my eyes, do not change or question anything, do not make interesting choices. Things just... happen, predictably. Episodes are way too long to tell so little.

A couple of good episodes such as The Autopsy and The Viewing. Quite a few meh episodes. The two biggest stinkers are the Lovecraft adaptations which weren't so much adaptations as a bunch of horror tropes stuffed loosely into the original stories.
