The premise is interesting, but it's ful of repetitive storylines (Emma's son is in danger! Again!), inconsistent characterizations (Regina is good or evil depending on the needs of the plot), random plot twists (is anyone in the show *not* related?), and shameless pandering to Disney fans (*cough*Frozen), proving the showrunners have no idea what they're doing and are simply treading water.

Amazingly interesting concept that quickly devolves into a boring fairly listless run.

Very uneven, with a clever premise that's far too steeped in soap opera drama and nonsense.

Once Upon a Time had a great concept and a stellar start, incorporating mystery and fantasy to create a show that was fresh and engaging. S02 stumbled with its "mundane" characters. but finished on a high note. The Neverland arc in S03 was great; the Oz a little less so. And then S04 happened...the Frozen arc was alright but seemed like pandering, the trio was just underwhelming. S05&6 were better, but indulged "shippers" at bit too much. It also got a S07. Parrilla & Carlyle made it all great.

Although an interesting premise (though obviously nicked off the comics series Fables, which by the way is much better than this garbage), this show suffers from bad acting, dislikeable protagonists, sub-par writing and plotholes that are so gaping they make Donald Trump's words believable. There's one awesome episode, the one when Snow White does an evil deed. That episode raised my score by 10 points. Avoid if you're 11 or older.

Two writers of Lost return to create a show very much like it (mystery-centric ensemble serial show with flashbacks to fill in backstory), with almost all of its faults and only a tiny sprinkling of its strengths.

Started off pretty good but after season 2-3 they officially ran out of ideas and it turned into a soap opera with fan service Disney characters showing up then vanishing from memory. And Hook ruined Emma's character. Lana is the only reason to keep watching.

The series certainly dips after season 3. That being said, it's still highly enjoyable escapism and delightfully heartfelt to boot. Once Upon A Time benefits from using the LOST structure as a jumping off point for a terrific group of well acted characters and interesting twists on fairy tales. All that taken into account, the show is good. What makes it great is the presence of Robert Carlyle.

I loved the live action disney crossover concept, and it started off really strong, but each season seemed to get weaker than the last. I ended up giving up on it before seeing the last couple seasons.
