It's an interesting concept tied down by bad writing, bad dialogue, obvious plot holes, racism, sexism, cheap sets, cheap costumes, and a smothering shadow of unabashedly horny writers. The stargate and the main characters outfits are nice. Teal'c is by and far the best character.

It's hard to objectively critique SG1. It's part of my childhood. It was the first series I watched with a dedication reserved for TV addicts, binged and re-watched it. Over ten seasons it's had its ups and downs. Its characters deaths and resurrections. Its filler episodes and its mythology. Its spinoffs and fanbases. Regardless of the cheese, it's one of the best scf-fi franchises out there.

Even with all the filler episodes and a couple poor seasons, nothing can stop Stargate SG-1 from being one of the best sci-fi shows of all time (Farscape's better though :p). What makes it work is that it's mostly character driven, and the characters are all relatable, enjoyable, and played by talented actors. Also worth mentioning that the universe they build for the show is extremely well thought out, and the way it interlaces with reality is neat. Classic show.

Stargate was part of my childhood. I watched and rewatched every episode and I was a huge fan. The characters were given thought to and actually the main plotline and most of the sidestories we're quite well written. Of course a show that runs for 10 seasons becomes repetitive after a while, but still they tried to improve, alter, find something new and I think they succeeded.

Mostly nostalgia sake

Well done sci-fi / fantasy / adventure; great story telling.

It's campy with its alien Egyptian gods, but suspend disbelief and enjoy.

This series would be rated higher if it simply ended earlier. I still believe it is worth watching to a point, but do not be a completionist as I was. The characters are memorable and I still have the iconic sound effects stuck in my head.

Loved it as a teenager, would have probably rated it 4/5. Now, as an adult, I see all the severe and numerous flaws of this show. Mainly, it seems nearly every plot point happens due to the main characters making decisions so stupid that I simply cannot go on watching. I sampled several seasons and the characters remain silly and so, so stupid. I really wanted to like it as much as I once did - but I can't.

I have not seen the concluding seasons, but everything up to that point has been TV sci-fi at its finest. SG is to sci-fi what Buffy was for teen horror on the small screen.

Stargate SG-1 is possibly the best science fiction series of all time. All of the characters are well written and grow as the series goes on. Although it loses its way a little towards the end, it remains to this day a poignant, exciting, powerful and absolutely absorbing journey through the stars.

The first season is pretty solid. After that it declines quickly becoming too cheap and cheesy. The casting is uninspired and the writing became increasingly confused and clumsy as plot-lines became more and more silly. Went on far too long also.
