Designed to sell the figurines. At the time, was not able to discern any other virtues. This remains the case, but Smurf stuff continues to sell, I believe.

At five, I was a huge fan. At 38, this seems painfully dull and I am ashamed to have had dozens of these toys.

This was a staple of Saturday mornings for years, but it really hasn't held up at all. Most of the ideas for episodes are rather uninspired, and the characters are usually stereotyped by their names.
