Wow. How come this is so unknown? A great series.

The thickness, bluntness, and the hilarious sauce of poetry made me giggle a lot. Had most fun with Costner constantly riding the heli in ep1. Alas, too many random ‘exciting events’ in the following eps made me quit.

Based on first three episodes

Nice cast. I really enjoyed Kelly Reilly as the hot mess shark. The story dishes out a few too many implausible plot points. The acting is often too serious and deliberate. Kevin Costner is a great actor but I kept waiting for his character to break out more. It highlights a way of life best set about 200 years ago. Kelsey Asbille was surprisingly terrific. It was also a great showcase for Luke Grimes. Some of the writing was not great, however, it was often entertaining and engaging.

EDIT POST FINAL SEASON. This thing went so far south. The seasons before the final had become less solid as they went, but this last one was pure nonsense. Almost nothing made sense, the creator inserts himself randomly into an episode to uh... prove his manliness or something, at a time when there are so many things to be wrapped up with established characters. Its so out of place it seems like parody. Nothing really ends the way you want. Among the worst final seasons of all time.

Great show, dragged down by season 5.. like many other have said. Otherwise, would have rated ~85.

Beth minus 1.5, Rip minus 0.5, Redundancy of scenes and relationships -1…3 tiers below where you started and it’s inflated any way you cut it This show collapses after season 2 and gets really bad

The setting is fun and some of the characters are interesting, but it just takes itself way too seriously for how melodramatic it is. By the end of the first season, more people have been murdered than the entire population of Montana, but life just goes on like normal. Also, you can apply a version of the Bechdel test to this--I don't think there is any scene that involves the natives in which they don't refer to the fact that they are native. I made it through somewhere into the 3rd season

While Sheridan's very good at creating compelling characters & drama, a series seems to force him into absurd contrivances (why would Costner's cowboy "gang" induct newly released cons who showed no commitment to their goals? why did they NOT hang the California Real Estate guy?) This show is also insanely Woke portraying every Native as noble & entitled to land rather than the descendants of disparate tribes who fought & lost land. & every woman is of course either obnoxiously strong or noble

Huntin'. Fishin'. Ranchin'. I have no interest in any of those things, and found nothing worth seeing in the 90-minute first episode. One and done for me.

I watched like the first half season or so… seems pretty good, kind of a modern set western with Costner as like the Don Corleone type of this ranch… but certainly some melodrama, maybe I’ll keep with it, maybe not. Tbh more and more these days whether I stick with a show depends whether my wife wants to stick with it, call me Mr Pussy Whipped I guess.

Surprisingly good show, well worth a watch. Kelly Reilly is the star of the show. All seasons so far.

Macho cowboy crap with a lot of folksy, earthy, forced crap from Kevin Costner.
