Is nice! I can only echo the widespread sentiment that there should've been more of the revealing satire along the lines of the rodeo scene and the scene with the frat boys, and a little less of the obviously scripted stuff. However, some of the scripted/unscripted parts were mixed together so well that it was hard to tell which was which sometimes. Idiots getting what's coming to them, music by Goran Bregovic, nude wrestling... great success!

I thought it could have gone further with the social satire... often it would go pretty far but then retreat to the easy dick joke. However, it was screamingly funny throughout most of it. I really wish was there more unscripted, non-actor stuff in it.

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen and is what got me into Da Ali G Show, which is one of the funniest things ever put on tv. The are the big funny things that everybody talks about, but there are many subtly funny moments that I think a lot of people over look, my personal favorite being after he is abandoned and walking down road in the middle of nowhere and he throws his bag down.The chicken is in the bag and you hear a slight squak. It gets me every time.

Borat is absolutely hilarious. His character is so over the top, but yet so believable. The people he encounters think he's a real person and, sometimes, don't know how to react. He attacks the insecurities of our culture by attacking them head on and showing us what we look like. It's simple, yet effective. It's ingenious. Not only is Borat a smart film, it's also absolutely hilarious. It's something that everyone should experience at least once.

I was laughing out loud form beginning to end. It's amazing that this movie was made, given some of the dialogue and things the cast and crew went through just to make people laugh and think about American culture. The scripted stuff isn't nearly as funny or thought-provoking as all of the real-life interactions Cohen and company get from real people. It has and will definitely offend some people, but I'm white, so what do I know? Definitely worth watching though, particularly for Cohen.

SBC at his best. The production's a bit half-assed (e.g. the soundtrack is all Goran Bregovic pieces nicked from Kusturica movies) but other than that, this is some incredibly funny stuff. Hebrew speakers will note that all of Borat's "kazakh" dialogue is actual intelligible hebrew, even the swear words.

I'm no fan of Sacha Cohen, but this movie has several genuine funny moments to it. Granted, they're all improvised, and the scripted moments focusing just on Borat are mostly throw-aways. Still, the reactions of people to Kazakh's #1 reporter are hilarious.

I don't know what the intentions were but I found the whole setup for the comedy to be smug and contrived and destructive in many cases. The "satire" just seems like a cheap excuse to make crude & empty gags on soft targets mostly. I don't want to sound like a total grinch but I just found this profoundly uncomfortable and not in a clever satirical way.

The Borat/Azamat wrestling match is perhaps the hardest I have ever laughed during a movie. For that alone, as well as numerous other hysterical jokes (the bear!), this is a worthy film. A big part of what makes it great isn't funny at all, however, as the movie really is a cultural study -- just not in the way it says it is. What the movie needs is more interviews and documentary stuff, because the stagey bits come off awkward and forced, and weigh down the picture. Still, Cohen is priceless.

Ingested as a series of skits this is often hilariously funny, but as a feature length experience it becomes a nauseating ordeal. The Borat segments were the funniest stuff on Ali G, not only that but his attempts to fit in were pitiable and almost endearing. That sense is lost in this US setting as he ramps up the outrageousness to beat past the patronising tolerance he encounters. A tighter focus on more deserving targets would have made this brilliantly incisive AND funny. Missed opportunity.

I found the movie to be insanely hilarious, but if I haven't seen most of the jokes already, the movie would have been even funnier. The only problem is that a lot of the joke were outrageous funny, not funny funny. But there are still a lot of very smart jokes, and even the stupid hotel fight scene leads up to a good joke. Overall, 1 hour of solid non stop laughing - if that's what you are looking for, you are going to enjoy the movie immensely.

On the one side there are some genuinely hilarious parts in the film (such as the weatherman). On the other side there are parts where Cohen behaves in a completely ridiculous fashion and people react exactly as you would expect, with either shock or disgust (such as Borat running around naked). Other parts are just so awkward to watch and you feel awful for the people in them (the frat boys). In the end some of it is funny but more of it is painful to watch.

Pretty amusing but it's really just one long skit. Sasha Cohen is the real life equivalent of an internet troll getting real people to react with racism, arrogance, or idiocy. He's pretty successful at what he does and I admit I laughed more times than not. The only reason why it doesn't rank higher is because some of it is obviously staged.

Its format makes it feel a little thrown-together at times, but somehow I think that is what Borat is going for. This feels like a wonderful product of its time that has only gotten better with age because a lot of the same things that the film points out as being messed up about American culture are still deeply present today.

An incredibly sharp, daring, shocking, smart and above-all else groundbreaking mockumentary/comedy. As someone with an interest in politics and international relations, this film is absolutely a razor-sharp satire of the world. Similar to Blazing Saddles, this movie also attempts to point out how ridiculous racism is by strawmanning it to death while we laugh. An absolutely amazing movie that will be looked at 20 years from now like how Blazing Saddles is today.

A very funny film that also exposes the very real side of racism, sexism, and -- on the other extreme end of the spectrum -- evangelical religion. Baron Cohen turns in a great performance that's both hilarious and endearing; when he can make you care this much for the anti-semitic pervert, while still choking you with laughter, it's something special.

Borat goes about making an ass of himself and those around him. I might've liked it more if I didn't think Sacha Baron Cohen was so INCREDIBLY annoying. I hate the guy. Neither the film "Borat" nor Sacha Baron Cohen should be pilloried for inspiring unrelenting amounts of Borat-related catchphrases in 2006, but I'm still sore about it... real sore, Mister! Aside from being a discount warehouse of catchphrases, "Borat" was subversive and hysterical. Critics have lamented that the very audiences it satirized (the young and/or ignorant) seemed to enjoy it the most, but the part of me that is a cruel and horrible bitch finds that fact rather hilarious.

I must say that this movie was one of those rare flicks where the jokes were super funny, but it was an uncomfortable funny that 'good' and 'cultured' people don't laugh at. Well, I laughed my natural black ass off. I laughed so hard that I farted right there in the theater. Granted, a lot of people say that it's all straight out of Ali G show, but I've never seen it, so it was all new to me. This movie works on so many levels.

I wasn't a big fan of Borat at the time of it's release. Upon rewatching the film nearly twenty years later, it hasn't aged well and I'm still not a fan of the humor in the movie. I find the story about how the movie was made much more interesting that the actual film itself. There are some funny moments in the film and there are too many moments of embarrassment for me as an American when I watch this film because my country has only gotten more conservative in it's views since this debuted.

Claims that BORAT is an antisemitic, sexist film clearly are from people who either didn't see the movie, or are humor-challenged and didn't get who the joke really is on. If there is a shortcoming, it is that the single episodes do not last long enough - BORAT is one of the funniest films of this year, it has a message - and it has Pamela Anderson in it!

Meandering 'documentary' feels overlong and overstuffed (even at a brief 80 minutes) but it is genuinely funny at times, and Cohen is to be admired for fearlessly throwing himself into various confrontational situations. Highlighted by a grotesque hotel room fight, and an incredible finale featuring Anderson (set-up or not).
